known for being spectacular athletes, including myself! I have here with me,
Charlotte Cooper, Larisa Latynina and Enriqueta Basilio!!!!!

CHARLOTTE: Hi!

LARISSA: Hello!!

ENRIQUETA: Hi everybody!

MARIA: We are gathered here today to have a conversation about our

experiences on the Olympics

CHARLOTTE: My name is Charlotte Reinagle Cooper, I was born in Ealing,

September 22, 1870. I was the first British woman tennis player to have won a
gold medal in tennis, this achievment is what made my name famous in the
Olympics world. I won the singles tournament at the 1900 Summer Olympics in
Paris, France, when was allowed the feminine participation on the Games for
the first time.

LARISA: My name is Larisa Semyonovna Latynina, I was born in Kherson,

December 27, 1934. I am ex-Gymnast of the Soviet team, known for being the
woman with the most medals in the history of the Olympic Games. I have been
on the podium 18 times.

ENRIQUETA: My name is Norma Enriqueta Basilio Sotelo, also known as

Queta Basilio, I was born in Mexicali, July 15, 1948. I was a Mexican sprinter
and also the first woman in the Olympics to light the pyre. This was a historic
and very important moment that happened at the opening of the Mexico
Games, in 1968. I became a symbol of gender equality.

MARIA: Last bu not least there also me Maria Emma Hulga Lenk Zigler, I was
born in São Paulo, January 15, 1915. I was the first Brazilian swimmer to set a
world record. I became the main Brazilian swimmer and was the only woman in
our country to be introduced to the Swimming Hall of Fame. And also the first
woman to use butterfly swimming in competitions. Unfortunately I failed to win a
Olympic medals. But I always kip trying.
