• OpenMedia is the BBC’s new newsroom
computer system which began to replace ENPS in
July 2017.

• During OpenMedia’s roll out there will be times

when journalists will need to use information
created in both systems . This is called
Dual Running

• You’ll be able to work across ENPS and

OpenMedia using the same PC/Laptop

Once your programme area goes live with OpenMedia,

AnyPlace will enable users to access and work within their
newsrooms from wherever they are (create, edit, approve
and access agency wires, BBC internal wires and
personal searches).

Below are some quick steps to show you how to find
information held within a running order.
Type home.openmedia.bbc.co.uk into your browser

or use the link on OpenMedia’s Gateway page
Log in adding your BBC domain name followed by \
2 and then your user name and password into the login
screen and press CONTINUE
Click on the BBC SEARCH left pane. You can use
3 the Today’s Running Orders search or the All Running
Orders search to see today’s, future and archived
running orders
There are two buttons to the right of the

searches. Click the right one to open the running
order search in a new tab. This will allow you to
keep the running order search available in one tab,
and have multiple running orders open in additional
9 triangle again.
Type the name of the programme you’re searching
5 for in the Title field (for example, bull core), then click
on Search (or hit return/enter on your keyboard)
You will then see a list of running orders found in
6 that programme area. To the left of each running
order are two buttons . . Click the left button
to open up the context menu, then click on Open
document in new browser tab, to open the running
order in a new tab

The running order will open. Click the small triangle

This opens up the Preview Window. Click on any
row in the running order, to see the contents of
its scripts

You can copy script either from the preview window
or from a separately open script. You can then
paste the text into another document (ENPS script,
Word doc, email, etc.). Make a note of any technical
instructions or media assets you’ll need to retrieve
later on, such as VCS dira! audio track numbers or
Jupiter IDs.
OpenMedia AnyPlace has a timeout device, as part of
the BBC’s security settings.When not using it, after
30 minutes of inactivity your session will expire and
you will need to log in again. Refresh your browser
periodically by pressing F5 on your keyboard if you
want to avoid this.
