Important Examination Information

PVL2602 students will be sitting for the exam on 26 November 2021 from 09:30 to 18:00. Each
student will be allowed to write for a maximum of two hours.

Starting times are different for different groups of students

Because of the size of the class, the exam is split into three sessions:

Session 1:
Groups A, B and C will write from 9:30-11:30.

Session 2:
Groups D, E and F will write from 12:30-14:30.

Session 3:
Groups G, H and I will write from 15:30-17:30.

Students may access the system and begin the assessment 15 minutes before the scheduled
start of their exam. However, each student will only be allowed to write for a maximum of two
hours. For example, a student who begins the assessment at 09:15 must submit his or her
answers by 11:15. (The system will automatically submit it if the student does not do so in
time.)
Similarly, a student who begins the assessment at 12:15 must submit his or her answers by
14:15 and one that starts at 15:15 must submit his or her answers by 17:15.

Do not access the system too soon

Students who are allocated to Groups D, E and F must not try and access the system before
12:15. Students who are allocated to Groups G, H and I must not try and access the system
before 15:15.

Which group are you in?

To find out which group you are in, go to the myexams site (claw.myexams.unisa.ac.za). Look at
the PVL2602 tab that appears on your myExams sites. The example below is a screen shot from
the lecturer’s myExams site and shows all the groups that were created.
However, you will only see one PVL2602 EXAM Oct 2021 tab.

The letter that appears after the year ‘2021’ indicates the group that you were allocated to. In
the screen shot above, the tab circled in red states ‘PVL2602 EXAM Oct 2021 A’. This means
that Group A is highlighted.
As stated above, you will only see one ‘PVL2602 EXAM Oct 2021’ tab.

If your tab states ‘PVL2602 EXAM Oct 2021 A’, you are in group A.
If your tab states ‘PVL2602 EXAM Oct 2021 B’, you are in group B.

If your tab states ‘PVL2602 EXAM Oct 2021 C’, you are in group C.

When do you start and end the examination?

Groups A, B and C will write from 09:30-11:30.

Groups D, E and F will write from 12h30-14h30.
Groups G, H and I will write from 15:30-17:30.

Your exam session and/or group cannot be changed.

to Groups G, H and I must not try and access the system before 15:15.

This exam is not being invigilated.

Go to https://myexams.unisa.ac.za/portal. Do not log in.

Make sure you are in the Exam TimeTable section.

Select the Date your exam is scheduled for – only accessible THREE days prior to your

examination date.
Select the relevant Module (PVL2602) and you will automatically be directed to the correct
location for the module’s examination.

Login in using your Unisa student number (username) and your myUnisa password.

Go to your specific examination site through the site tabs on the horizontal navigation bar.

NB: If you do not find the site on the horizontal navigation bar, click on the Sites link in the top
right-hand corner. The exam site should be available under Oct 2021. Click on the star so that
the site appears on your home page.

Once the site has loaded, select the Online Assessment tool from the left navigation menu.

On the Online Assessment page, click the examination link under the section “Take an
Assessment”. This will take you to the instructions page and allow you to start the examination.

Please be patient – the system may take some time to load. Look at the navigation bar at the
top – if there is a circle turning, the system is still busy loading.

Tick the Honour Pledge and then click on “Begin Assessment”.

Click “Next” when you want to move to the next question. The system will automatically save
your previous answers. Do not click on “save” after each answer that you select, since this will
waste time.
If you experience a technical interruption, logout of myExams. DO NOT just close the page. If
you logged out properly, you could login again, navigate back to your examination and resume
where you last stopped, if time allows.
Students experiencing technical challenges should contact the SCSC on 080 000 1870 or via e-
mail Examenquiries@unisa.ac.za or refer to the Get-Help resource for the list of additional
contact numbers. Communication received from your myLife account will be considered.

You will have a maximum of TWO hours from the time you click “Begin Assessment” to
complete your exam and to “Submit for Grading”.
Please remember that the exam is linear, which means that you can only go forward. You
will not be able to go back to change an answer nor to answer those questions that you may
have omitted.
You have two opportunities to do an assessment but remember that you will get new questions
on the second attempt. Also remember that the answers from the second attempt will replace
all previous answers submitted. Your highest score will be recorded.
