“Differentiate Internationalism from Globalism”

INTERNATIONALISM means having a favourable relationship with other nations and the
people within. This is done through processes that involve an exchange of cultures. It is more
concerned with the collaboration that occurs between territories and its direction towards a
goal. Because it is the different governments that seek cooperation through this process,
Internationalism has to do more with politics than anything else.
GLOBALISM is the cooperation between individuals and businesses for financial gain.
Government involvement is rarely seen, but it does facilitate and enforce regulations. Today’s
technology has made this possible. Everything is sold on the internet today. This has given rise
to many shipping companies eager to get your products quicker than the competition. Trade
events are done weekly around the world in different industries represented. Globalism is
international trade.
INTERNATIONALISM and GLOBALISM are similar in its goal to become borderless in both
POLITICS and TRADE.

ACTIVITY 5: Let’s discuss!

1. Identify the attributes of global corporations.

Global corporations are typically large, multinational companies that have a great amount of
control over the world. These organizations have the ability to make decisions about what
happens in our society and economy. They can be thought of as existing separate from the rest of
society, since they don't necessarily answer to anyone but themselves. There is no one person or
group who has ultimate control over them.

These organizations are motivated to make profit, since that is what they exist for. They have a
natural tendency towards expansion and growth.

2. What is necessary for International Order?

No one among the most powerful nations will ever choose to truly respect another country’s
sovereignty, especially the small ones. So, what is necessary for the developmental of an
International Order is respect between nations, which is nice to hear but is really
unachievable.
