into small paragraphs. It should have an introductory and concluding paragraph.

1. Do you think the poem “Ode on the Lungi” is about Sartorial Equality? Has the poet
succeeded in writing an elaborate poem on a simple piece of clothing to ask serious
questions about equality? Have you ever experienced or come across people being
sidelined based on their dressing? Explain your views based on the poem?

2. The openness of the poem “An Introduction” is capable enough to shock a first time
reader of Kamala Das’s poems. Do you agree with the observation, if yes explain with
reference to your experience of reading the poem?

3. The poem “To a Student” succeeds in portraying through imageries the horror of living in
the times of war and urges the young generation to create a world of peace and harmony.
Explain?

4. The poem “Good Bye Party to Miss Pushpa T.S” is a satire on Indian English and Indian
ways of public speech. Elaborate?

5. “Small-Scale Reflections on a Great House” may appear on the superficial level as a


poem about an ancestral house. Nevertheless, it signifies, Indian Culture. Do you agree
with the statement? If yes, substantiate your views based on your understanding of the
poem.
6. “I am not that Woman” is a liberating poem which strongly urges women from all
cultures to respect themselves and not allow themselves to be oppressed in any form.
Substantiate?
7. What is the poet saying about immigrants, tourists and tourism in Singapore in the poem
“To a Visitor to Singapore”?
