CPAST element:

J. Data-Guided Instruction
Goal(s):
My goal is utilizing the data I have into improving my lessons through differentiated
instructions.
Action plan:
I will focus on collecting more data (put it in writing) throughout the school day, and not wait to
come home to jot it down. I will also focus on coming up with my own record keeping method
that I will use for my own reference in addition to what the district/state requires. Last, I will
focus on incorporating the data I have to come up with guided instruction to my students who
need the extra scaffolding.

CPAST element:
D. Differentiated Methods
Goal(s):
This area goes hand-in-hand with the data-guided instruction. My goal is to use direct data
(spelling miscues for example) to come up with a plan for differentiated activities/instructions.
Action plan:
I will focus on providing differentiations, such as pulling small groups for Heggerty and math to
coach my students who seem to be passive in my class (less participative) or to those who score
below the class average. I will also focus on adjusting my teaching methods to fit my students’
needs through providing more challenging work to my high achievers and shortening the
assignments for my less advanced students. Last, I will focus on providing differentiative
methods thorough using my mentor’s feedback and constructive criticism (U. Responds
Positively to Feedback and Constructive Criticism). One example would be providing one-on-
one time with students who need more scaffolding.

CPAST element:
F. Critical thinking
Goal(s):
My goal is to ask more higher-level thinking questions that are directly related to the subject
area.
Action plan:
I will focus on asking open-ended questions that start with “how” and “why” post thumbs
up/down assessments. I will also focus on tackling the higher order thinking practices through
integrating these questions into my whole group class discussions.
