SECTION A

1. Discuss and state the essential distinguishing features of an agent, trustee, servants, independent contractors
and bailee. 171/2 marks
2. “An agent’s authority to bind his principal by his acts is derived from an express agreement between the
principal and agent that the agent should act on the principal’s behalf. Without such an agreement an agent
cannot bind his principal by his acts”
Discuss the circumstances in which the acts of an agent can bind his principal without prior authority.

3. “That an act done for anther by a person not assuming to act for himself but for such other person, through
without any precedent authority whatever, becomes the act of the principal if subsequently ratified by him,
is a well-established principle of law.
In that case, he principal is bound by the act, whether it be to his detriment or his advantage and whether it
be founded in a tort or contract to the same effect as by and with all the consequences which follow from the
same act done by his previous authority.”
Per Tindal C.J in Wilson v. Tunman (1843) 6 Man & G, 236.
In light of the above statement, discuss the requirements for a valid ratification. 171/2 marks

SECTION B

4. In 2020, Babmot Enterprises appointed Alhaji Rolling Dollar, an Estate Agent to sell her property at 12,
Endears Street, Akure for ₦10m and remit the proceeds to the company’s Bank Account les less his
commission of 5% and the sum of ₦255,000.00 earlier granted as a loan to Babmot Enterprises during a
business transaction in 2015. Babmot Enterprises later met Messrs Jumia who agreed to sell the same property
for that amount at 3% commission wrote to Alhaji Rolling Dollar asking him to stop the sale of the property
on her behalf, Alhaji Rolling Dollar is aggrieved and he is seeking legal advice.

Required:
i. With the aid of case law authorities, identify the legal issue(s) (2 1,2 marls)
ii. Advise Babmot Enterprises, Alhaji Rolling Dollar and Messrs Jumia. (8marks)
iii. Assuming Alhaji Rolling Dollar was not stopped, but he became bankrupt after he sold the property to
Mr. Chinedu, what would be your advice, citing relevant cases. (7 marks)
5. (a) Discuss any three basic duties of an agent to his principal citing relevant judicial authorities. (9 marks)
(b) Subject to some express term in the agency agreement and some specific exemptions, every agent losses
and liabilities and against the principal to be indemnified against losses and liabilities and agent all expenses
incurred in the execution of the agency agreement. Appraise the above statement critically. (17 1/2 marks
6. With the aid of decided cases, discuss the various ways in which the agency relationship can be brought to

the dowry to which Ireti is reluctant. As a family law student discuss the importance of dowry.

2. Discuss the procedure for the celebration of customary marriage.

3. Explain the restrictions to the celebrations of customary marriage.

SECTION B

4. Explain in an outline form the dual validity requirements of a statutory marriage in Nigeria.

5. Hard of precise definition, consortium refers to the body of benefits a spouse enjoys by virtue of marriage,
in clear language, discuss.
(a) The component of consortium, and
(b) The appropriate remedies where it is inferred with.

6. “A void marriage is one that will be regarded by every court in any case in which the existence of the marriage
is in issue as never taking place and can be so treated by the parties to it without the necessity of any decree
annulling it. A voidable marriage is one that will be regarded by every court as a valid subsisting marriage
until a decree annulling it has been pronounced by the court of a competent jurisdiction”-De Reneville v De
Reneville. Discuss the above dicta with the aid of appropriate statutory and judicial authorities.

SECTION A

1. With the aid of statutory and judicial authorities, eligibility criteria that “works” must meet to enjoy copyright
protection in Nigeria.

2. Section 10(1) of the Copyrights Act provides that copyright is vested initially in the author and that the rule
applies even when such author has been paid by someone else to create the work. Discuss this in view of the
modes if acquiring ownership of copyright.

(b) Discuss the exceptions to the general rule in (a) above

3. With the aid of statutory and judicial authorities, discuss the level of originality required for a work to attract
copyright protection?
(b) Tolulope & Co. a firm of architects instituted an action against Tobenna & Co for infringement of
copyright in respect of their architectural drawings. The defendants brought a notice of preliminary
objection on the ground that the plaintiffs, not being registered under the requisite laws regulating
architectural practice in Nigeria were not entitled to practice to practice as architects and thus could have
not have their drawings protected as architectural drawings within the meaning of Copyright Act. Advice
the parties.

SECTION B

4. Examine the civil remedies that may be available for an author whose words has been infringed under the
Nigerian Law of copyright.

5. The popular Nigerian hip-hop artiste, Naira Marley recently released an album into market. To his surprise,
officers of the Nigerian Customs Service arrested Kako a business man at the Murtala Mohammed
International Airport, Lagos, because Kako had illegally produced thousands of copies of Naira Marley’s hit
song and was to smuggle it out of Nigeria. Naira Marley who is based in Abuja, FCT has instructed solicitors
to file an action at the Kubwa Magistrate Court within the jurisdiction of the F.C.T. Advice Naira Marley on
his rights and the appropriate legal steps he may take to claim same.

6. The Nigerian Copyright Commission has a pivotal role to play in the administration of Copyright Laws in
Nigeria. In your opinion, advise this body on the necessary steps it can take to facilitate the enforcement of
law and protection for copyright works in Nigeria.

SECTION A

1. Advice the parties in the following cases:


a. Mr. Adu was attacked by a youth corper posted to his office on his way home because he called the
corper a lazy boy. The corper jumped on Mr. Adu and rained several punches on him as a result of which
he lost consciousness.
b. Jokotola managed to avoid a stone thrown at him by Rotimi but the stone landed on Toluwani. Jokotola
has decided to bring an action against Rotimi. 171/2 marks

2. An action has been brought against Mr. Subulade for committing all the forms to trespass to land known
under the law of torts. He has claimed not to understand and desires your assistance to enlighten him. 171/2
marks

3. Adejoke had earlier rejected Popoola’s marriage proposal and went to her room to sleep. While sleeping,
Popoola’s friend Jide, who heard about the incidence came to her room, locked her in the room and took the
key away. Adejoke later woke up but was unable to attend her meeting as the door was locked. She attempted
to jump out through her window only to discover that her landlord’s ferocious dog was lying in wait. She has
decided to bring an action against Jide for this act. With the aid of judicial authorities, advise her on the type
of action to take and the necessary ingredients required to sustain same. 17 1/2 marks

SECTION B

4. Prayer and fire Salvation Ministries is a Pentecostal church situated in Ijero Ekiti. The church recently held
a powerful crusade at the Oluyemi Kayoed Stadium in Ado Ekiti. During the crusade, one of the pillars
erected for the pillars erected for the purpose of the programme gave way and fell on Mrs. Oluwalolese. This
caused her to sustain various degrees of injury which includes broken hip, two missing tooth and a neck
injury. Mrs. Oluwalolese has sued the organizers of the programme for the damage she has suffered.
However, the organizers of the crusade claim that they only rented the stadium for the purpose of the crusade.
They further claim that they do not owe any duty to put the stadium in safe condition. With the aid of judicial
and statutory authorities, advice the parties.

5. Negligence is the omission to do something which a reasonable man, under similar circumstances would do,
or the doing of something which a reasonable and prudent man would not do. List and discuss two (2)
elements of a negligence claim.

6. List and discuss at least five (5) decencies in at ‘tort’ claim.

INSTRUCTION: Answer four questions in all. At least two (2) questions from each section.

SECTION A

1. Koboko and Duro were charged with raping Omolewa. Koboko for raping and Duro for aiding. The evidence
against Duro was that he assisted Koboko in the course of raping Omolewa to the effect that when Omolewa
screamed as a result of the pain upon penetration, Duro prevented Carol, Omolewa’s friend, who had been
with them in a car from going to Omolewa’s rescue. Consider the culpability of Koboko and Duro in view
of section 7 of the Criminal Code.

2. Sunday, Dauda and Udong were charged jointly with murder of Badrus. Sunday and Dauda had struck Badrus
a violent blow with intent, at least, to cause grievous bodily harm. Sunday had a cutlass, Dauda had struck
and Udong had a pistol. The cutlass cut Badrus on the head as Badrus was defending himself against the
attack. The blow from the stick hit his skull. Badrus fell and died of fractured skull and cerebral hemorrhage.
Use this hypothetical case to discuss sec 8 of the Criminal Code.

3. With the aid of statutes and the case law, distinguish sections 7(d) and 10 of the Criminal Code.

SECTION B

4. A gang of armed robbers attacked Chief Thank God in his residence at about 2:00am last year December,
immediately the robbers gained entrance into the premises, Chief Thank God shot one of the robbers gained
in the head with his rifle and killed him on the spot while others fled the scene. Chief Thank God reported
the incident to the nearest Police station the following morning. The Police consequently came to his
residence and removed the corpse of the robber. The Police as now arraigned Chief Thank God in court for
the offence of the murder of the deceased robber. Against the backdrop of the principle of self-defense,
critically examine the chance of success of the charge against Chief Thank God.

5. Every act is not an offense. Therefore to constitute an offense certain essential elements must be cogently
established by the prosecution against an accused person. Comprehensively highlight the essential elements
of an offence known to you.

2. Discuss fully any five basic principles of environmental law

3. Environmental pollution is one dimension of the earth environment in Nigeria.


(a) Define the term ‘environment pollution’.
(b) List and discuss briefly five air pollutants.
(c) What are the effects of water pollution in Nigeria?

4. Mr. Tunji Charles has engaged your services as a counsel to seek redress for the pollution of his fish pond by
oil spillage. His brief has revealed that the pollution emanated from the damaged pipelines of an oil company
in the city. Explain to him the common law remedies for environmental pollution. Identify one of the
remedies that will be appropriate for your claims.

5. The 1989 Basel Convention on the Transboundary Movement of Hazardous Wastes and Their Disposal
defines wastes as substances or object which are disposed off or are attended to be disposed off or are required
to be disposed off by the provisions of the national law. Discuss the various classes of wastes in Nigeria.

1. Adeolu was observing his siesta when Olu his friend came to check on him. Olu decided to lock up Adeolu
in the room and went with the key. Three hours later, Olu came back to open the door but still met Adeolu
sleeping. Chika informed Adeolu that he was locked up for three hours by his friend. Adeolu has approached
you for the best action to institute against Olu and how to successfully establish same.
Discuss with the aid of decided authorities.

2. With the aid of judicial authorities, discuss the following:


a) Boundaries of tort and contract
b) Boundaries of tort and criminal law
c) Injiria sine damnum and damnum sine injuria

SECTION B

3. (a) With the aid of judicial authorities, list and discuss three forms of trespass to land.
(b) Clifford erects a signboard on his land, which projects over the garden of Joseph his neighbor. While
erecting the signboard, Clifford deposits a pile of soil on Joseph’s land. Joseph is infuriated and wants to
bring legal action against Clifford. Advise Joseph on his legal rights if any.

4. (a) Mr. Goodluck was coming from work when he discovered a motorcycle on top speed moving towards
him. He tried everything within his power to run to safety but he was knocked down by the force of the
motorcycle. The passersby saw the motorcycle moving on top speed towards Mr. Goodluck raced to sustain
an action in negligence and what are the conditions for establishing same.
(b) Occupier’s liability id the liability of a person who has the occupation or control of a premises, for injury
occasioned to anyone who enters it as a result of the state of the premises fixed or moveable structure.-------

Discuss the various decencies to an action in occupier’s liability.

SECTION C

5. Conversion is an act of international dealing with or exercise of control over chattel whereby the plaintiff is
deprived of the use and possessions of that chattel while detinue is the wrongful detention of the plaintiff’s
chattel by the defendants after the plaintiff has made demand for its return and the defendant refused to
deliver same. Ihenacho v. Uzochukwu.
Discuss with decided cases.

6. Employer’s duties include but not limited to competent staff, adequate materials, proper system of work and
effective supervision. It has also been argued that employer’s duty gores beyond provision of basic equipment
but extends to insisting on its usage. Discuss this in relation to employer’s liability.

1. Agency is the relationship which exists between persons, one of whom expressly or impliedly consents that
the other should represent him… Bowstead on Agency.
With the aid of decided cases, critically examine the foregoing definition and attempts to rationalize the
conflicting views arising therefrom.

2. (a) Chief Goodluck is the owner of a two storey building along Damilore road, Ado Ekiti. In 2009, he
gratuitously allowed Mrs. Agnes to store her furniture in his house at Damilores’s street. At the time Mrs.
Agnes had cash problem and was ejected from her rented apartment. She was immensely grateful to Chief
Goodluck and promised to come back to evaluate the furniture soon.in 2011, Chief Goodluck wanted the
space which was occupied by the furniture for other purposes, and failing any instructions from Mrs. Agnes
he sold the furniture.
In 2012, Mrs. Agnes returned and demanded for her property but Chief Goodluck maintained he had sold the
furniture on behalf of Mrs. Agnes and out of emergency. Mrs. Agnes is threatening legal action. Advice the
parties.
(b) Distinguish between Agency, Trust, Bailment, Servants and Independent Contractors.

3. In 2015, Daniel proposed to register his project management company by the name extol project management
company. In order to make the company hit the ground running at incorporation, he entered into a contract
to supply building materials to Dr. Patrick Hess in the name of the yet to be registered company. Dr. Patrick
later learnt that the company was yet to be registered at the time of the contract but Daniel argued that the
company is now registered and that in court can nullify the contract.
i. Advise the parties on the status of their relationship and whether the contract can stand under the
common law.
ii. Discuss citing relevant authorities, the requirements for establishing agency by ratification.

4. Macaroni Enterprises appointed Alhaji Abudabi an estate agent to sell her property at 12, Omo ale street,
Ado Ekiti for ₦10m and renir the proceeds to the company’s bank account less his commission of 5% and
the sum of ₦255,000.00 earlier granted as a loan to macaroni who agreed to sell the same property for that
amount 3% commission. Macaroni Enterprises promptly wrote to Alhaji Abudabi asking him to stop the sale
of the property on her behalf Alhaji Abudabi is aggrieved and he seeking legal advice.

Required:
(i) With the aid of case law, identify the legal issues
(ii) Advice macaroni enterprises, Alhaji Abudabi and Mrs. Jumia
(iii) Assuming Alhaji Abudabi was not stopped, but he became bankrupt after which he sold the property,
identify the legal issues
(iv) Advice Macaroni Enterprises, Alhaji Abudabi and Mrs. Jumia assuming Alhaji Abudabi was not
stopped, but he became bankrupt after which he sold the property to Mr. Chinedu, what would be your
advice citing relevant cases

2. Gerald was employed as Purchasing Officer of Centro Global Company Ltd, a company with major dealer
ship in export of cashew nuts in 2014. He has since then entered into many profitable purchasing contracts
on behalf of his employer/company which had earned his promotion and several accolades. In September
2018. Gerald received certain instructions from Centro Global Company Ltd head office not to purchase any
cashew on behalf of the company for the rest of the year due to instability in export policy and global price
on cashew nuts. Notwithstanding this instructions from the head office, Gerald informed Ola Gold, a major
supplier to his employer company that he was as usually purchasing cashew nuts for the company and there
upon induced Ola Gold to sell cashew nuts to him. Ola Gold on the other hand having previously had a
contract with Gerald as agent for Centro Global Company Ltd. Entered in to the contract and delivered the
cashew nuts under the contracts. Gerald has since vanished into thin air. Ola Gold is claiming from Centro
Global Company the price of goods delivered while the company is contending that the contract was between
Gerald and Ola Gold.
Advice the parties.

4. Chief Erharbor is an importer of iron rods from South Korea, he imported 100 tons of iron rods into the
country and engaged Mr. Chuks from whom he borrowed ₦10m to finance the importation, to arrange for
buyers and dispose the iron rods. The agreement was for Mr. Chuks to recoup his money from the proceeds
of the sales Mr. Chuks had problems selling the iron rods as a result of which chief Erharbor contacted Mr.
Dickson, a seasoned sale man to take over the sales. In the course of doing this Chief Erharbor fell ill and
died. The personal representatives have since contacted bhosons Ltd to sell the iron rods. With the aid of
decided cases;
i. Identify all the legal issues
ii. Would Chief Erharbor succeeded in replacing Mr. Chuks? Give reasons for your answers
iii. Discuss the effects of Chief Erharbor step on the transaction.
iv. Assuming Chief Erharbor had been in sane instead, would your answer had been different? Support
your answer with decided cases.

1. Roseline and Chuks has been dating for the period of two years but the parents of Roseline insisted that the
two of them cannot marry each other because they are related. After much entreaties they have decided to
marry themselves secretly, advice the parties,

2. Ojo and Aina approached an associate of the registrar of marriage who promised to assist them to get married
statutorily, he collected a reasonable amount of money and gave them a date for the celebration for the
marriage. On getting to the address it was discovered that he resided in the venue and he was the one who
volunteered to join them which they agreed to reluctantly. Discuss the validity of the marriage.

3. What are the proof and legal effects of marriage under Marriage Act?

4. Jumoke was very nappy when Mr. John proposed to her and they went ahead with both the traditional and
statutory marriage. It was during the honeymoon that a court process was served on her to the intent that the
marriage was null and void.
Advise Jumoke on the remedy available for her if any.

5. What are the ingredients of the celebration of a valid marriage under the Act?

6. The term dowry and bride price have been subjected to controversies which include among other the selling
of the girl-child.
Discuss extensively with decided cases the importance of bride price.

2. Johnson, Musa and Ajayi went out to steal at night from the compound of Chief Ekaette. Johnson was armed
to the knowledge of three of them. Chief Ekaette was killed by Johnson. With the aid of statues and case law,
explain the culpability of Johnson, Musa and Ajayi
SECTION B
3. Critically examine the legal classifications of offenses known to you.

4. For the offense criminal conspiracy, all that is required to be disclosed is whether there was an agreement
between two or more persons to do or cause to be done some illegal acts or some acts, which are not illegal
by illegal means. With the aid of statutory and judicial authorities, highlight the general nature of the offense
of conspiracy within the above context.
SECTION C
5. "...a defense in the face of a life threatening attack and a justification for committing a crime". Discuss this
assertion with the aid of relevant statutory and judicial authorities.

6. Mr. Olumade sets up an illegal criminal trial for Jojo his father in-law to claim the dowry paid to Jojo during
his daughter's marriage ceremony sometimes in 2016. At the conclusion of hearing, Jojo was beaten and
locked up in a dark room until his family members were able to return the dowry to Olumade. With the aid
of statutory and judicial authorities, discuss the liability of Olumade.

SECTION A
1. In 2014, Ekiti State government cultural troop, imitated a drama production titled 'lukorigi', which became a
hit in theaters. However, due to the success of the drama, the Ekiti State defendant union, produced a similar
drama production titled 'korigi', at Taraba State, it also became a hit. The Ekiti State government Cultural has
dragged the Ekiti State Descendant Union to the Federal High Court, Ado Ekiti to stop the continuous
production of the drama. What are their chances of success?

2. (i) What do you understand by the expression Folklore?


(ii) Are such expressions protected? If so any statutory exceptions to their protection.

3. Although the Director-General of the Copyright Commission is appointed by the Head of state, his power
has been considered to be too wide in the administration of the Commission - Do you agree?
SECTION B
4. The copyrights Act protects certain works from use not permitted by the owner of such work. Eligible works
in this regard must meet certain conditions as to draw sufficient protection from the Law. Discuss.
(a) What are the provisions of the Law on duration of Copyrights?
(b) What do you understand by the term "infringement"?

5. Discuss the statutory exceptions to the exclusive ownership of copyrights.


(a) Are there special exceptions in respect of Broadcast and Sound Recordings?
(b) Name and explain at least 5 (five) remedies available in the case of an infringement of copyrights.

6. Valentine, a prolific writer, has to his credit numerous articles published in many Local and International
Newspapers. On a fateful Sunday valentine was reading the “Sunday Punch" Newspaper and found an
interesting article which looked very familiar. At the end of the article was the name of one Yerima John as
the author. Valentine was shocked because he knew the piece was a verbatim copy of one of his articles sent
to a publisher in Lagos. The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos realized they the case was on all fours with
the decision in Plateau Publishing Company Ltd v Chief Chucks Adophy. The Sunday Punch however
claimed innocence of the existence of the earlier copy by Valentine. Discuss the Issues raised and the position
of the Law on the award of remedies in cases of infringement.

1. Examine the situations below and answer the questions which follow
(a) Davidson who was acting on the order of Ogbonna transported John to kill pa innocent but killing did not
occur until 10 hours later.
(b) Mohammed Ofor buried alive his new born twins in the presence of his mother Apata stood a few yards
away to watch if anyone is coming in their direction in order to ward off their captives.

2. The most difficult part of the offense of attempts is the question of finding out the necessary overt acts.
Discuss.

SECTION B

3. Chief Fagbemi was a renowned herbalist living in Epe, Lagos State. A gang of armed robbers terrorizing Epe
and its environs usually consulted him for spiritual guidance before embarking on any robbery operations
and the gang equally kept their weapons in chief Fagbemi's shrine after each operation. Unfortunately for the
gang members, they were caught during a recent robbery operation in one of the new generation banks at
Badagry, Lagos State. In the course of police investigation into the incident the gang disclosed that Chief
Fagbemi was their spiritual father and in whose premises they usually concealed their weapons after
operation. Upon being arrested by the police, Chief Fagbemi defended himself by saying that he has not
participated or followed the gang members on any of the robbery operations carried out by the gang. Against
the background of the essential elements of the offence of the conspiracy known to you, critically highlight
the defense of Chief Fagbemi. Support your answer with relevant statutory and judicial authorities.

5. (a) On the 16th day of July 2018, Akpan, a 6 year old boy stole a box of chocolates from Superbite store,
immediately Akpan saw the police officer at the entrance of the store, Akpan took to his heels. Unfortunately
for Akpan he was apprehended by the police officer who intends charging him to court. With the aid relevant
authorities examine the liability of Akpan.
(b) Tanko grabbed sergeant Okoro's gun and in the attempt to recover the gun from Tanko, Sergeant Okoro
accidentally touched the trigger and Tanko killed in the process. With the aid of statutory and judicial
authorities examine the liability of Tanko.

6. "Self-defense is a last resort in the face of a life threatening attack, what kind of life saving option". Discuss

2. Dennis an architect entered into a contract with Olubukayo & Co to make a model of a bungalow building to be
displayed in the defendant's premises. Before the model was ready, the plaintiff loaned the defendant another
model of 5 storey building created by him while he was a student in the university. To the plaintiff's surprise, the
model was advertised by the defendants in some National newspaper as its proposed headquarters in Lagos, while
attributing authorship of the model to a certain Olajide & Co instead of the plaintiff. Advise Dennis on his right
if any.

3. With the aid of statutory and judicial authorities, examine the eligibility criteria that "works" must meet to enjoy
copyrights protection in Nigeria.

4. "The right of a Copyright owner is denied to have been infringed by any person who without the license or
authorization of the owner of the Copyright does an act which constitutes a break of the right is the copyright
owner". Discuss those acts, which constitutes infringement of copyright under the copyright Act.

5. (a) What are the reliefs that a right owner may get for the infringement of his copyright?
(b) How does a right owner go about the criminal enforcement of his rights?

6. Discuss critically the concept of 'fair dealings' in relation to infringement of copyright.

4. (a) Section 10(1) of the copyright acts events that copyright is vested initially in the author and that the rule
implies even where such author has been paid by someone else to create the work. Discuss this in view of
the Moon of acquiring ownership of copyrights.
(b) Discuss the exceptions to the rules in (a) above
5. The copyright app provides guide us to who may claim copyright and the duration within which such
copyrights ownership may last. Discuss the categories of individuals companies and others who made claim
copyrights.
6. Discuss the duration of copyright in the following under listed.
i) Chief Jejelayegba is a musician and the owner of the song “Iwalewa" he died in the year 2015. Copyright
in this work will end in what year?
ii) Otunba Aiyelagba and Mr. Ojupagogo wrote a book on '' Isese Culture and Tradition of the Igbajo
Community”, Otunba died in 2011while Mr. Ojupagogo died in year 2016.
iii) Ministry of culture tourism and youth developments has produced a music for the purpose of enhancing

1. Mr. Abanicanda got married to his heartthrob Helen on the 25 of November 2006amd by 2nd April of 2007,
the wife who was looking forward to a very enjoyable honeymoon discovered that her husband is incapable
of consummating the marriage.as if that was not enough, she got to know that her husband is also known as
Ekun, which she claimed was appellation. She was embarrassed and felt unsecured, she has petitioned for
nullity of the marriage. Advice on her success.

2. In the light of Akudike v Akuduke discuss the importance of the registrar's certificate notice or license under
sec 33(2) marriage act.

3. Discuss extensively the essential consideration for the validity of a values statutory marriage.

SECTION B

4. Omolola has always had a fairytale idea of celebrating her wedding. She recently got engaged to Charles
Okondu, a pilot with Sosoliso airline. Advise them on the possible options available to them on the
celebration of their marriage with the aid of statutory provisions.

5. Efosa from Akoko Edo just recently fell in love with Emeka. She has since informed her parents of her desire
to marry Emeka and Emeka has officially visited the family to state his intentions to marry Efosa. The parents
rejected his proposal saying that they didn't want their daughter to marry an Igbo man. Advice Efosa and her
parents on the validity of their actions and what can be done in the light of judicial and statutory provisions.

6. (a) Though hard of precise definition consortium refers to the benefits a spouse enjoys by virtue of a bundle
of rights emanating from the relationship of marriage. Discuss these benefits.

(b) Silifa had always been domestically abused by her husband Kijipa. Dr. Gillison recently advised her to
separate from her husband to enable her re adjust herself and restore her emotional balance for a period.
Kijipa has approach you; he wants to institute a legal action on entitlement. Advise him in the light of judicial
authorities.
