What is identity? Is it about a sense of belonging? Argue.

The notion of identity, or sense of belonging, is a central aspect of how we define
who we are. We consider ourselves to be individuals but it is our membership of
particular groups that is most important in constructing a sense of identity. Social
identity is a fundamental aspect of what it is to be human.
Could we see identity as unified, as having an essence or is it multi-faceted and
circumstantial?
We can see identity as unified from the point of view that we are humans but it can
be also multi –faceted and circumstantial because we are different.
How important is ideology to the shaping of identity?
Ideology is very important because I think it determines how we make sense of
things. It provides an ordered view of the world, our place in it, and our
relationship to others.
What effort does it take to transplant yourself into a new culture?
When individuals move to another culture, they naturally carry their own
background and life experiences with them, and these shape how they perceive
and adjust to their new environment.
What does being different mean?
Being different means you stand out, which is a good thing in a world where
everyone is trying to blend in.
What kind of attitudes are being fostered?

The presented documentary promotes attitudes such as: fear of the ideology of the
Nazi party, the desire to be accepted as a Jew without negative implications and the
attitude of acceptance towards another ideology.
