The Implementation of Blended Learning

In Teaching

Introduction
Blended learning is one learning method that is different from other learning methods. This is
because blended learning utilizes technological media so that there are a variety of different
delivery methods, teaching models and learning styles. According to Driscol (2002), “blended
learning is learning that combines various web-based technologies, to achieve educational
goals”. Therefore, there are some benefits if we apply blended learning because it utilizes
media technology. In order to support this argument, the essay will present 2 main benefits of
blended learning in increasing student interest in learning.

1. Easy of Learning Access

Blended learning can give students quick and easy access to their learning material wherever
they are and whenever they need it. It’s because blended learning using technology and all
learning material can be accessed online. According to Montalvo & Tores (2004), “Students
have the ability to manage the learning process to achieve the desired learning outcomes.
These abilities include skills to manage and manage your own learning needs.“ Because of
the easiest of access, students can learn at their own step and acquire the knowledge by
adjusting the learning styles of each student. In conclusion by utilizing the internet, students
are able to access material wherever and whenever they need it. It because learning materials
can be found on media technologies such as smartphones, tablets, and computers.

2. Effective Communication
Blended learning allows students to work together, engage in discussion, and provide useful
feedback to each other. According to Vernadakis et al (2012), “the blended learning model is
able to create a student-centered learning process. In the implementation process with
involvement and participation in the learning process, Blended Learning can increase
students' sense of responsibility and communication”. By using a comment board or discussion
board in blended learning, students can interact and communicate with each other and make
good feedback for students. As the result, when students are off campus they can still maintain
connections with teachers or other students.

Conclusion
In this essay, I have explained the benefit of using blended learning to attract student in
learning. The benefits are first, blended learning is easy for students to access their learning
material. Second, effective for communication and make students work together, engage in
discussion, and provide useful feedback to each other. Based on the benefits that I have
explained, I can conclude that blended learning is very effective to increase efficiency in the
classroom because it combines face to face learning with learning approaches based on
information and technology.
