Learning Exercise 1
1. Enumerate and define the three approaches to the study of ethics.
a. Meta- ethics
-deals with the nature of moral judgment. It looks at the origins and
meaning of ethical principle.
b. Normative- ethics
-is concerned with the content of moral judgments and the criteria for what
is right or wrong.
c. Applied- ethics
-looks at controversial topics like war, animal rights and capital
punishment.

1. Distinguish whether the following are human acts or acts of man:
a) Reading Lesson 2 of Ethics module 1 -human acts
b) Calling a friend -acts of man
c) Going to pee -acts of man
d) Doing household chores -acts of man
e) Inhaling smoke from burning firewood -acts of man
2. Do you agree that the absolutely ultimate end is happiness? Defend your
answer. (3 to 4 sentences only pls)

1. Identify the components of moral standards.
-moral sensitivity, moral judgment, moral motivation, moral character
2. Give the distinctions of a moral precept from an ethical code.

3. Identify one among your community’s ‘mores’, describe the more and explain
its significance as a prevailing more in your community (4 sentences only pls).
Learning Exercise 4
1. In a matrix(table) format, compare and contrast moral from non-moral
standards.
2. If somebody very dear to you is suffering from cancer and is in agonizing pain,
and if you are the sole authority to give consent, will you allow this person to
undergo euthanasia upon the patient’s request? What ethical action will you
take if you are in this kind of moral dilemma?

MODULE 1 : SUMMATIVE EXERCISE


Movie Review : to be sent in our fb GC
Watch the movie ‘Mulan’ (Mulan.2020.720pWEBRip.x264AAC), then:
a) make an analytic discussion regarding the moral and non-moral standards of
the ancient Chinese in the movie, (4-5 sentences only pls) and
b) explain the moral dilemma that Mulan went through and how she handled the
same moral dilemma (4-5 sentences only pls).
