Writing to Learn

In my content area of math, there is not that much writing done. You
can incorporate writing into the subject area though. The writing to
learn strategy I want to incorporate is called free-writes. Free-writes is
an activity and the students would reflect on the subject they just
learned. They would write down their feelings and thoughts such as
what went well, what was hard, what questions do they still have? I
would make free-writes digital by having students have an ongoing
document where they add to the document every day. They would
label each entry with the subject and date so that the teacher can
keep track of the entries. This way the students have a digital tool they
can use to incorporate writing into their learning.
