Analysis on President Duterte’s Communication Style

Abstract

There was a time when President Rodrigo Duterte said some bad words or rather, always said
them in the media. People are very disappointed with that, because it is not a very good
example of a President. I know he was just being himself and not being afraid of anything, I
guess. People prefer to listen to President Duterte because, unlike other politicians, he is simple
to comprehend. They don't have to guess what he's saying very often. He is unafraid to say
what he thinks, and he makes no excuses for it.

The more ridiculous his claims are, the more "authentic" they seem to his audience. This, I feel,
is where his ability to mesmerize audiences lies. When he puts aside a prepared speech and
says what he truly wants to say, he is being authentic. I think he wants to prove that he is a
genuine person so that people will trust his words to come true and many people believe them.

The way he talks in aggressive communication appears to show that he does not fear anyone,
and it appears to people that he doesn't care about his people. People may disagree with what
he says or find his vulgar statements offensive. But President Duterte takes his pride in being
able to say out loud what is on his mind.

A discussion that describes President Duterte’s communication style

According to experts, After his responses to statements from the US and the UN caused a stir in
foreign media, experts have emphasized the necessity for President Rodrigo Duterte to employ
"consistent and coherent" communications.

It says that President Duterte is handicapped by his inability to communicate effectively with the
public, a problem that impacts negatively on many aspects of his administration. This is one of
the reasons why, after the President makes a significant declaration or even a little remark, a
spokesman or interpreter is frequently called upon to clarify, explain, recast, or even overhaul
what the President said or attempted to express.

Arguments and Claims in His Communication Style

Many people were angry at President Duterte for his claims that he had made no mistakes in
the way he communicates to people. People become enraged and rant on any social media
platform to express their outrage.

According to some reporters, Duterte’s speeches are fascinating. Usually around an hour long,
they are impromptu because he does not read from any notes, but they are also, in a way,
rehearsed because of the number of times he has given the same speech. He promised to
eradicate drugs, but it didn't happen. It shows that he is a passive communicator who always
promises but doesn't follow through.

It says that President Duterte projected himself as a man of action and did not leave his role as
President. Also, he creates stories about his opponents using his distinct speaking style. His
harsh language, middle-finger flashing arrogance, and play-on-words insults are a
weaponization of words that he employs to remarkable effect. His acts and words reveal how he
has handled controversies during his presidency.

Conclusion
I conclude that President Duterte's communication style is different and cannot be compared all
over the world. The way he communicates sets a bad example for the people. I know he is
being himself to show the people that he is a genuine person, but it's not good at all. People
need a leader, not a rude president. His speeches are always very hard to believe.
