They did a lot of shipping across central America, so they did not have
to travel for anything
After the Spanish American war needed, they needed faster ways to
travel through America without going around south America .from
when they were going from Cali to Cuba a war had already started
making them not there, so they couldn’t let that happen again after the
Spanish war ended, one big project they wanted to do was take down
the French and to split apart the panama from Columbia. From doing all
this they were able to gain the rights to build the canal for shipping
purposes and transport military goods. This all worked because Spain

When the Spanish war was getting more serious the Spanish lost to the
U.S making them gain control on Cuba, Philippines, and many other
islands around so they needed better ways to get them, they wanted
faster ways to get new territory, so they conquered and bought from
the Spanish. When Cali tried to hit the Cuban shores, it didn’t reach so
they had many years to build the canal which took 10 years to make
and many workers

It took them 10 years to make the canal while doing so over 300
American white men died over 4000 Indian workers died because of the
unsanitary and sicknesses that happened because the canal was made,
they didn’t have to travel all over south America which was 14000 miles
and were separated from Columbia because of all this they also created
a handmade lake because of it which is the largest in history so over
40000 people in total made this canal making traveling easier and safer
Many reasons its great that it finished was that they did not over to
travel for months to get somewhere and it was really useful for world
war 1 because battleships were able to cross and also trading items
