Biodiversity

Ecosystem diversity, species diversity, genetic diversity all intertwine to create

biodiversity. Biodiversity refers to every living thing, including plants, bacteria, animals,
and humans.

• An organism that others may depend on for survival is called a keystone species.
• Coral reefs are essential for the survival of other organisms. They provide
microhabitats, shelter and breeding grounds.
• The tapir and agouti are herbivores found in the Amazon Rainforest. They
disperse their seeds throughout the forest so they can grow.
• Low population numbers and isolation from members of its species are both
factor of loss genetic diversity.
• Decomposers consume leftovers recycling nutrients to create rich soil.
