“Parent Letter Handout”

Introduction

Explanation: Unfortunately, because of COVID-19, I was not able to participate in a practicum

and had to take a supplementary course instead, but I was still able to prepare a letter that

would’ve been sent home to communicate with the parents of the students in a preschool setting.

This letter was meant to let the parents know what we would be learning about in the classroom

and the activities we would be doing over the next few days. This letter was intended to help the

parents feel prepared, included, and knowledgeable about the curriculum that is being taught in

their child’s classroom.

Standard: This artifact demonstrates my parent communication skills. I know that parents are an

important part of a child’s learning and development, so I wrote this letter with the intention of

helping the parents to feel involved. I was professional in my writing while providing

information and tips for the week ahead.
