APPLICATION:
1. Is your right and wrong the same as everyone else’s?
- In my view, my right and wrong are not the same as everyone else’s
because I also have my own beliefs and perceptions on what path I am
going to take if it is the right one or the wrong one and not all of my right
and wrong are acceptable with everyone. Sometimes i assume that I am
right and sometimes I am not, that is all depends on what situation
might going to happen. But some people don’t care about double-
checking facts or challenging their beliefs. They feel confident because
they believe they own the truth but being always right can be dangerous
sometimes. Being right or wrong turns into a battle, we become defensive
because we feel under attack. Even if we win of being in a right battle,
deep inside, we know we are wrong in some ways and as a result it falls
into a lose-lose situation. It is important that we come to learn and
realize that sometimes we must know that there’s no right way to
embrace a being wrong mindset. It takes humility and more courage
than being right all the time. This makes us feel vulnerable because we
are not perfect, we shall let others know that we made a mistake for
some reason. Things will pass, but don’t miss the opportunity to be kind.
Being human is more important than being right.

2. As time changes, do you think right and wrong changes as

well?
- Yes, because sometimes we think that the right may actually be wrong
and the wrong one may actually be the right thing. We people think that
we should always be right in any decision we made however, we
sometimes made mistakes but this mistakes makes us learn and realize
to it in order to get things right. But some other people make wrong
decisions for some reasons. For example, there was a part-time boy came
from in a poor family and currently working in a restaurant. One day,
her mom got sick severely and she carried to the hospital quickly for
operation but the boy had no money for it. So, he plan to stole money
from the cashier. And one day, he caught by the manager for stealing
and after that he ask by the manager why did he stole money from the
cashier so he says sorry for it sincerely because he cannot afford the
hospital bills immediately for her mother in order to get her operation on
going. That is why our right and wrong changes when we particularly
decide in an important or need to be made quickly. Our right and wrong
depends on what are we going to do in a certain problem or in certain
situation that needs to be decided in a certain time or take time to think
and rationalize everything before deciding for a solution to the problem
we encounter.

3. How culture define our moral behavior?

- Our exposure to different societies and their culture makes us aware
that there are ways of thinking and valuing that are different from our
own, and there a wide variety of diversity of how different people
believe it is proper to act. People with different backgrounds can help
each other see possibilities that they never thought were there
because of limitations, or cultural prescriptions, posed by their own
traditions. For example, if we have seen or eaten food from another
country, such as dried squid or fried crickets, sometimes we always
think of it as weird and gross. This means we use our own culture as
the center and evaluate other cultures based on it. We are judging, or
making assumptions about the food of other countries based on our
own norms, values, or beliefs. Thinking “dried squid is smelly” or
“people shouldn’t eat insects. But we should try to understand
cultural practices of other groups in its own cultural context. For
example, instead of thinking, “Fried crickets are disgusting” one
should instead ask, “Why do some cultures eat fried insects?”. We
may learn that fried crickets or grasshoppers are full of protein and in
Mexico, it is famous Oaxaca Regional Cuisine and have been eaten for
thousands of years as a healthy food source. This is why culture
determine our moral behavior and our moral behavior determines
culture because we try should not to judge first, we should always
think about their customs in a way that helps us make sense of how
their cultural practices fit within their overall cultural context. We
should respect other cultures in the world or in our country no matter
how different it is to our culture.
