Teacher Professional Growth Plan 2021

PS1 Student Name: Jonathan Koegler School: Magrath Jr./Sr. High

Inquiry: ¿To what extent will a focus on routine affect the behaviour of my students within Outdoor Education class?

Professional Goal #1
In my Outdoor Ed class I will establish a strong routine set

Rationale:

As I establish and hold consistent to a routine, my students will have a greater opportunity for resilience within my class. They
will know what is coming next rather than continually wondering what is happening with the 70minutes I am with them. This
will build trust, consistency, and a foundation for me and them to build from.

Teacher Quality Standard:

1(a) acting consistently with fairness and integrity
1(b) demonstrating empathy and a genuine caring for others
4(f) employing classroom management strategies that promote positive, engaging learning environment

Reflection Midround: I notice that it is better than the start of practicum but I am still not consistent enough to notice
significant progression. I have experienced some success but want to enhance my consistency to build momentum.

Inquiry: ¿How will an emphasis on efficiency and sticking to a system lead to more productive planning and clearer learning
process for me?

Professional Goal #2
Develop a system for my planning and stick to it.
Rationale: Due to ADHD and perfectionistic tendencies, planning takes far longer than my peers. I also find I revisit decisions
I’ve already built into my plan rather than finishing first.
As I focus on a system, make and commit to decisions, my learning will become more directly aligned with my own decisions and
competencies. Planning will become smoother and quicker.

Teacher Quality Standard:

3. A teacher applies a current and comprehensive repertoire of effective planning, instruction, and assessment practices to meet
the learning needs of every student.

3(a) planning and designing learning activities that foster student understanding of the link between the activity and the
intended learning outcomes;

of my planner for checklist items to
accomplish within planning process.

Reflection Midround: I have been committed to finishing plans earlier but haven’t followed through well enough to make
this a smoother process. I still hold to the idea that if I just sit until it is done, I’ll be more successful but I’ve recently noticed
that taking purposeful breaks keeps my mind fresh and engaged.
