This summer, I visited a very exciting and mysterious place on our planet - Easter Island, part of Chile.

That
was the most memorable vacation in my life.

To begin with, I was there for one week with my parents and a brother. Despite the long, incredibly time-
consuming and arduous flight from Kyiv, upon arrival, we were fresh and ready to explore the island. Having
grabbed some refreshments at the local diner, the rest of the day we spent in the town we stayed in.

When it comes to Easter Island, the greatest mystery, which researchers have long puzzled over are three
hundred huge statues constructed in the 13th century and found around the island. It is known that the
monuments represent ancestors and were connected to religious rituals, but the reason for their locations
was previously a mystery. Many things about Easter Island are subject to conjecture including where the
original Rapa Nui came from, why they carved the statues, how the statues were moved, and why the
statues were eventually destroyed. At some point in our stay at the island, we decided to take a guided
tour. To our great surprise, we were told that a new study says the people of Rapa Nui positioned them near
sources of humanity's most vital resource: freshwater.

To crown it all, I enjoyed Easter Island, one of the most remote inhabited and bewildering islands in the
world. Despite the fact, that the statues' puzzle is solved, the island remains one of the Earth's mysterious
place.
