Abstract:

The earth is expriencing the revolutionary computing paradigm that is expected to have a profound
impact on the way people interact with computers, other computer devices, physical spaces, and other
people. This is an upcoming technology called ubiquitous computing, envisions a world where
embedded processors, computers, sensors, and digital communications are inexpensive commodities
that are available everywhere. Ubiquitous computing will surround users with a comfortable and
convenient information environment that merges physical and computational infrastructures into an
integrated habitat. This habitat will feature a proliferation of many computing devices and sensors that
will offer new functionalities, offer specialized services, and improve productivity and interaction among
computers. This paper is intended to provide a deep explanation on the central trends in ubiquitous
computing considering them all from technical, social and economic perspectives. It clearly identifies
different area and sectors where it is applied to benefit from the potentials of ubiquitous computing. It
also brings in the challenges of ubiquitous computing that require a solutions and management.
INTRODUCTION

The use of modern information and communication technologies are considered to be the preconditions
for economic growth and coming viability in world competition. At the same also the processes of
change brought, enabled and accelerated by ICT are enormous. The new technologies have a day to day
expanding effect on the economy.
Digital information and services are all becoming mobile and can be brought up from any location. New
trend towards ubiquitous computing are emerging i.e, the ubiquitous and invisible use, creation,
processing, transmission and storage of information. Dairy objects are becoming smarter objects, which
are linked into networks.

This paper is intended to investigate the trends in ubiquitous computing and consider them from
technical, economical and social perspectives. It emphasizes on the level of analysis that is located
between individual case studies and the global comprehensive focus and that can be mapped onto the
application areas of ubiquitous computing. It also identifies the potentials of ubiquitous computing. It
clearly identifies that different application areas and sectors will benefit from this potentials at different
levels. It also makes clear that ubiquitous computing not only focus on technical problems, but also
comprises social and economic challenges that require active solutions and management. As it has often
been the case with technical innovations and advancements, ubiquitous computing adresses the
question of what kind of future do we want. This paper, on the other way, contributes to the bigger
objective in the other way. Also the paper intends to identity enough issues so that a many social groups
will be drawn to participate actively in the discussion on ubiquitous computing.
