• If we know the key signature and we need to find the Key of a major scale
that has sharps, from the last sharp of the key signature we go two steps
forward on the Fat Cats etc.
e.g.
To find the key of a piece that has F#, C# in the key signature, we go from
the C two steps forward to D. That means D major is the key/scale.
REMEMBER!
Sharps always appear in the same order in a key signature. That means that
if a piece has one # then this must be F#. If a piece has two # then these are
F# and C#
• If we know the key signature and we need to find the Key of a major scale
that has flats, from the last flat of the key signature we go one step back
on the Big
Fat Elephants
Cats etc.
etc.
e.g.
To find the key of a piece that has Bb, Eb in the key signature, we go from
the Eb one step back to Bb. That means Bb major is the key/scale.
REMEMBER!
All scales that have flats start on a b note apart from F major scale. (which
has Bb)
