ANTI-DRUG CAMPAIGN

Introduction

The aim of this study was to identify the level of knowledge and awareness of the Filipino society
about the dangers of drugs and to determine if the use of media and communication strategies increases
awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. Today, drug abuse is severely affecting the society causing
loss particularly in terms of treatment and rehabilitation costs, loss of productivity and increased crime.
Many methods and strategies have been introduced in addressing the drug problem either by
strengthening the enforcement agencies, organizing prevention programs, and increasing antidrug
education as well as improving on methods of treatment and rehabilitation of drug users.

Purpose

The purpose of this campaign is to settle people and orient them not to use illegal drugs and to
disseminate them the information about drugs. It is also by developing a better understanding of the
Filipino society’s level of knowledge and awareness about the dangers of drugs and identifying whether
the use of media and communication strategies increases awareness about the dangers of drug abuse,
policy makers as well as those working directly in addiction may gain information that will make
prevention efforts more successful. A quantitative method was adopted to serve as the method for this
preliminary study.

Description

This Anti-Drug Campaign is a current domestic government propaganda campaign across the
world aimed at changing public perceptions of drug misuse and preventing drug abuse among individuals
around the world. Illegal Drugs is when people get involved in "drug problems," they usually mean abusing
legal drugs or using illegal drugs in a wrong way, such as marijuana, ecstasy, cocaine, LSD, crystal meth,
and heroin. For the safety and healthy living of a person he or she must neglect illegal drugs so that in the
near future you will have a small percent of committing suicide and crimes. Illegal drugs also may lead you
to a massive destruction of mind, depression, and stress.
