Expressions of Nationalism – Case Study Presentation

For this task you will sign up to explore ONE of the following nations and create a
presentation to demonstrate how that group expresses their ‘nationalism.’
 Ukrainian
 Metis
 Quebecois
 Canadian
 Indigenous*

In your group, of approximately SIX people, you will create an engaging slideshow
presentation to teach your peers about the nation you are exploring. This is an
opportunity for you to ‘take the wheel’ and guide your own learning. Your group sizes
are large so split up the work so that you’re able to finish on time.
Your presentation should address the following:

 Identify the group you’re presenting on

 Identify 3-5 ‘expressions’ of nationalism demonstrated by the members of your

nation
o Hint: look at your ‘expressions of nationalism’ notes. Think celebrations,
music, art, political actions, etc.
o Be specific and feel free to add plenty of images/videos to your slides!

 What shared experiences of the members of that nation are reflected in EACH
expression?

 Is the shared experience related to:

o Shared language
o Ethnicity
o Culture
o Geography
o Relationship to land
o Spiritual or religious values
o Citizenship
Or a combination of any of these?

 Include any other relevant information that helps form your understanding of this
nation.

*If you are researching Indigenous nationalism, you may focus on one Indigenous
nation in particular, or bring in examples from multiple nations
