Independence Day

On September 15th in Mexico is one of the most important holidays in the

nation because it is celebrated on Independence Day. At night the families
prepare all kinds of Mexican food such as: pambazos, enchiladas, tacos,
tostadas, etc. and you usually listen to music from Mexican singers, I
especially like Pedro Infante. At 11:00 o'clock the mayors gather the people
to give the famous “grito de dolores”. Then families start celebrating all
night. Sometimes people organize a kermes, with a lot of music and
dancing. On September 16, students parade through the city with the flag
and commemorative cars. That day nobody goes to school and few people
work because it is a national holiday.
