A STEP BACK IN BICOL UNIVERSITY VMGO

I. RATIONALE

Ever since university was formed, Vision and Mission have always been a part of it. Vision,

Mission, Goals and Objectives help to align everyone with the organization, thus ensuring that

everyone is working towards a single purpose. This helps to increase efficiency and productivity in

the organization or university. The vision and mission statements define the purpose of the

organization and instil a sense of belonging and identity to the employees. This motivates them to

work harder in order to achieve success.

In this research, you will know the history of the Bicol University Vision, Mission, Goals and

Objectives to further deepen your knowledge and to know the significance of Vision, Mission,

Goals and Objectives in the University.

II. OBJECTIVE(S)

At the end of this research you are expected to:

 Understand the significance of the Bicol University VMGO.

 Know the history of the Bicol University VMGO.

 Gain more knowledge about the Bicol University VMGO.

V. BU MISSION

 PREVIOUS BICOL UNIVERSITY MISSION

The Bicol University shall primarily give professional and technical training and

provide advanced and specialized instruction in literature, philosophy, the science

and arts, besides providing for the promotion of scientific and technological

researches (Republic Act No. 5521, Section 3.0).

 To provide quality graduate and undergraduate education in the natural and

mathematical science.

 To undertake basic and applied scientific researches that is of high standards

and of regional and national relevance.

 To render technical extension service in support of regional and national

scientific and technological development.

 To pursue sustainable income-generation program to support excellence in

instruction, research and extension.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES)
A. GENERAL OBJECTIVE

 The information technology program aims to prepare the students to be

professionally and technically competent in the field of information and

Communication Technology, equipped with the following:

 Abstract and analytical thinking skills in computing systems and

other skills related to information and communication

technology.

 Relevant concepts and principles that enable them to adapt to

their place, ever cognizant of the vital link between technology,

society and environment.

 Awareness and understanding of their moral, ethical and social

responsibility in employing their knowledge and skills in the

service of the Bicolanos and their countrymen; and

 Capability to communicate their ideas effectively.

B. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

 To acquire technical skills and practical knowledge of how information

system (IS) are installed, managed and administered;

 Students undergo training in abstract and analytical processes;

 To develop skills in communication both in oral and written form,

extensively using various information and communication technologies;

 To develop personal and social values;

 To be grounded with the appropriate concepts and principles;

 To be adaptive to the work environment.

 LATEST BICOL UNIVERSITY GOALS AND OBJECTIVE

 Provide relevant and responsive curricular programs for undergraduate and

graduate education which meet national and international standards of quality

and excellence. The academic programs shall graduate employable citizens in

their profession;
 Generate and transfer knowledge and technology that shall address poverty in

the region, integrating research and extension activities to improve the

productivity of key economic sectors supportive and sustainable barangay,

provincial, regional and national economic development;

 Optimize the resource-generation capacity of the University pursuing

academe-based entrepreneurship anchored on the core competencies of the

faculty and the vast land resources of the University alongside witn fund

sourcing through partnership building and networking to support the delivery

of quality instruction, research and extension functions of the university;

 Effect timely administrative and academic support service through

simplification of processes and actualization of the highest degree of efficiency

and effectiveness in the administrative system and operation, therefore,

promoting the University’s mandate of quality instruction, research extension

and production; and

 Provide physical environment supportive of the instruction, research,

extension and production programs.

VII. CONCLUSION

The vision, mission, goals and objective statements are very important and they can best be

described as a compass and destination of the organization respectively. Therefore, every

organization should develop clear vision and mission statements, as not doing so would be like

going on a journey without knowing the direction you are to follow or the destination. The vision

and mission statements are important tools of strategic planning, and thus they help to shape the

strategy that will be used by an organization to achieve the desired future.
