Reflection on Essay 1

My essay talks about a travel group that was created on Facebook. I learned and

experienced that while we were under quarantine, we experienced many things and one of them

was not being able to travel. My essay may or may not help other courses, my essay can help a

History course, English course and a tourism course. The future history will talk about what is

happening right now. How COVID-19 affected our lives by not letting us have a social life, not

making simple errands and not being able to travel. My essay can be used as example to show

other student on how to make essay, to show errors that I might have not noticed or to use it as

an example on how a proper essay should look like. A tourism course can uses my essay,

because my essay talks about travel and a travel group. The travel group can be used as a source.

The tourism course literally talks about travel and my essay talks about travel and places people

can go visit. There are tons of courses my essay can not be applicable some of them being in the

science field, medicine field and so much more courses my essay will not applicable to. A course

about science, medicine are not going to use an essay that talks about travel it would not help the

course at all and it basically does will not help the students.

The community I’m talking about is based on travel and it can be found on Facebook.

This community has improved my essay, because it provides me with examples of places

travelers have gone to and has helped me develop my essay even more. For example in my essay
I mention “a gorgeous picture of the ocean view at Fregate island in Seychelles is shown in a

post from the Travel Group.” This example can be seen in my essay and in the post from the

travel group. This example helps me talk about an amazing place people have not seen nor been

to.

When I was writing this essay I think that my greatest weakness was struggling with

writing it, because I knew what I was going to talk about I just did not know how to explain it in

words. Another thing I struggled with was using developing my paragraphs. For example in my

first draft I mentioned “Ever since the pandemic started people have been locked inside their

doors and have not left their homes since the outbreak began, unsure of when they will be able to

travel once again” and after this sentence I went from one topic to another. I was told that I

elaborate more say “how has COVID-19 has affected us”. So in my final essay I had mentioned

this “ Ever since the pandemic started people have been unsure of when they will be able to

travel once again. When COVID-19 also known as Coronavirus hit America the government

demanded for all countries to go under quarantine. This made it difficult for American citizens to

get out of their homes, make simple errands, have a social life, and travel.” This elaboration

helped me understand my essay even more. My strengths while I was writing this essay was my

thesis statement I’m so proud of it, because it only took me two minuets to write it down and

friends who read my essay told me it was a good thesis statement. Thesis statement mentioned

“The Travel Group uses Facebook to show places people have not seen before, to provide

adventure from their homes and to motivate people to travel.” It simple, but good.

What I learned from the comments from my readers was that I’m a good writer all I need

to do is be proud of it and to not be underestimated by my own thoughts. For instance, while my

friend Nathaly was reading my essay she said it was well developed and that while she read my
examples she could see her self in that place. Another thing that one of my readers who was

Jaqueline told me that she does not understand why I complained so much about not getting it,

because she can totally see that I got it. These comments helped me understand that I’m good

writer and that I am a capable writer.

In conclusion, I used to think that I was the worst writer and that I am not capable of

making a 4-page essay with 1000 words. I complained a lot I would say why is my instructor

giving us this if this will not help me at all,” “why am I doing this, I such a horrible writer I am

not capable of making a perfect essay.” I would complain so much to myself that I would get

mad at myself. But soon enough slowly I started to get the hang of it. I would right down ideas

that would pop out of my mind and soon enough all of the ideas that popped in my mind helped

me create a 4-page essay with more than 1000 words. This essay changed my whole perspective

and now I want to make essay’s all the time until my brain stops functioning.
