Definition of Term

Urinary Tract infection (UTI). An infection in any part of the urinary tract especially, the

urethra or bladder, caused by Escherichia coli. Trigger when there is increased sexual

activity, vaginitis, prostate enlargement, or stress. (Dictionary)

Pregnancy. The state of carrying a developing embryo or fetus within the female body

lasts for nine months. This condition is verified through a pregnancy test, ultrasound,

blood test, and detection of a heartbeat. (Medicine Net)

Urinary System. An organ system is a group of organs that works on a particular task to

produce and excrete urine. The kidneys, urinary bladder, and urethra are some of the

organs to form a Urinary System. (Biology Online)

Perinatal Period. A period from the beginning of labor restoration of the uterus after

delivery of the infant. Statistically perinatal period lasts from the 28th week of pregnancy

until the first week of the infant. (Oxford Reference)

Nursing care plan. A prepared outline of nursing care to the patient with a continuous

reassessment to ensure consistency of care. It consists of nursing assessment, nursing

diagnosis, nursing interventions, outcomes, and evaluation. (Medical Dictionary)

Hygiene. Hygiene refers to the science of preserving health by accommodating all

agents that affect our physical and mental well-being. It involves your eating habits,

drinking habits and personal hygiene. When it comes to your personal aspect, you need

to consider food, water, and other beverages; clothing; work, exercise, and sleep.
