Intro:

The fall of Afghanistan. Kabul has finally fallen in light of Western Military presence withdrawing from
Afghanistan after 20-year presences. Panic ensued on the streets of Kabul as Taliban fighters took over
the presidential palace, only hours after president Afghan Ghani fled the country

2.Taliban Takeover

The Taliban has made rapid strides in their quest to regain control of Afghanistan since the foreign
forces since May’2021. They have managed to capture 26 out of the 34 capital provinces in less then 10
days. This Takeover could have significant impact on the Global and Local geopolitical environment

3. Diplomatic Strain and Withdrawal

First of all, this Taliban take over could deeply strain the diplomatic relations of Afghanistan. There has
been an international response with many countries either completely withdrawing or reducing the
number of Diplomats in Afghanistan. Iran a close neighbor and regional power has greatly reduced its
diplomatic presence. earlier has also completely evacuated its diplomats and citizens from Afghanistan.
Saudi Arabia, Spain and Germany has sent strategic airlifters and passenger planes to completely
evacuate its diplomats and citizens from Afghanistan. Nepal, United Kingdom and UAE are also working
to evacuate their diplomats, citizens and ex-pats. This could certainly strain the relation of Afghanistan
with these countries and further economic and strategic embargo could be placed.

4.International Intervention and Rejection

Estonia and Norway requested UN intervention. Russia has stated that will not recognize the Taliban as
a formal govt and British PM Boris Johnson has urged the international community to not recognize the
Taliban takeover.

5.US Diplomatic Blunder

Additionally, the most interesting development regarding diplomatic withdrawals is the withdrawal of
US diplomat. This withdrawal has drawn comparison to the fall of Saigon in Vietnam decades earlier.
This also has an Impact on the international politics. This recent developments in Afghanistan are seen
as a diplomatic failure by the Biden Administration
6.Refugee Issue:

As thousands of Afghans try to flee the radical Taliban’s it is leading to a severe refugee crisis. Turkey
and Pakistan have already closed its borders to control the flooding mass of fleeing Afghans whilst Iran
has set refugee camps near the border region. This number is projected to Tenfold in the coming days.

7. Human rights violation and Destruction of Women Empowerment Education, Destruction of culture
economy, rise of Terrorism

The International community also holds fears of Human right violation and destruction of women
empowerment and education under Taliban rule. As seen in previous events the radical and often
violent theology could possibly lead to destruction of the culture, economy and infrastructures. The
radical mindset could also give birth to violent terrorist factions
