1. The Deming Prize:

The Deming prize is one of the highest Total Quality Management


awards in the world. It was founded in 1951 in memory of the late Dr. William Edwards Deming
who went to Japan in 1946 and taught them Statistical Quality Control (SQC) techniques. The
Deming Prize is an annual award presented to an organization that has implemented TQM suitable
for its management philosophy, scope of business, and management environment. Any
organization may apply for a reward under certain conditions, there is no limit to the number of
potential recipients of the prize each year. All organizations that score passing points or higher in
the exam will be awarded a Deming Prize. Following are the companies that achieve the awards

• Florida Power & Light:

The first non-Japanese company to winner Deming prize award in 1989. The Florida Power and
Light Company is the largest energy company in the United States as measured by retail power
generation and sales. The company was founded on 1925 and is headquartered in Juno Beach,
Florida, United States.

• Denso Corporation:

In 1961 Denso corporation won his Deming prize award. Denso is a global manufacturer of
automotive components offering advanced automotive technologies, systems and products Its
products include air conditioning systems, engine components, physical equipment, driving
controls, and safety products.The company was founded on December 16, 1949 and is
headquartered in Kriya, Japan.
