The European Quality Award (EQA):

In October 1991, the European Foundation for Quality Management


in partnership with the European Commission and the European Organization for Quality
announced the establishment of the European Quality Award. The EQA was designed to raise
awareness throughout the European community, and especially in businesses, about the growing
global markets and their increasingly important quality of life. It consists of two parts: the
European Quality Prize, awarded to companies that meet the criteria of the award and excel in
quality management practice and the European Quality Award, which is given to the most
successful applicant. Following are the companies that achieve the awards

• STMicroelectronics:

In 1997 STMicroelectronics won the European Quality Award. STMicroelectronics is a French-


Italian multinational electronics and semiconductors manufacturer. The company was founded on
1987 and is headquartered in Plan-les-Ouates near Geneva Switzerland.

• Nokia:

Nokia won the European Quality Award in 2000 Nokia Corporation is the world's largest
manufacturer of mobile phones, serving customers in 130 countries. Nokia is divided into four
business groups: Mobile Phones, Multimedia, Enterprise Solutions, and Networks. Founded in
1865 and headquartered is located in Espoo, Finland.
