ABSTRACT
In the following years of the Second World War, both European and Turkish art were not very similar in their own, but they
had undergone some major changes. Beginning from the late nineteenth century in the Western world, modernism, which has begun
to show the influence of every field, has just begun to encompass Turkish art. Modernism, which represents the greatest break from
traditionalism throughout the history of thousands of years of art, has begun to name tradition itself towards the mid-century.
Modernism, which finds itself in institutions by way of challenge, has been the essence of the universal rules of contemporary
aesthetics in about fifty years. Looking at the Turkish paintings before 1950, the perception of landscape in the works of artists such
as Hoca Ali Riza (impressionism) and Osman Hamdi Bey (orientalism) has not yet been deformed as in modern art movements. As
with modernism, as in the whole world, in the Turkish painting art, the sensation of space has disappeared and a tendency towards
color and objects has been introduced; but this does not mean a complete departure from the use of space. In this study, the
reflections of the modernism fashion that took place between 1950 and 2000 in Turkish painting art, the development, the landscape
existence in the pictures of artists who gave works in this period were discussed.
