Employee Service

Drive to Make a Difference was created to benefit the patients of the Department of
Radiation Oncology here at the University of Michigan. Funds raised through our charities,
fundraisers and outings go directly towards helping those undergoing radiation therapy. The goal
is to invest in programs that will aid in the quality of life and improve the experience for our
patients. The affliction of cancer can cause tremendous hardship and hinder those from getting
the care they need. The Drive to Make a Difference golf outings are intended to help those being
cared for at the Department of Radiation Oncology.
This year was the fourth annual golf outing. This is a 4-person golf scramble that raises
funds by sponsorships, donations, and registering golfers. Also, silent auction items are donated.
There are a variety of ways to fund sponsorship, for example, platinum, gold, hole and putting
green sponsorships.
I contributed by attending the golf event and registered participants as they arrived. The
event would not be possible without the support of the sponsorships and golfers. The funds from
this event goes directly into help pediatric cancer patients and their families. I have been able to
see firsthand the joy this money can do to a family and I am honored to be a part of it.
