Introducción

Santa Marta integrates into its natural heritage the sea, the bays, the swamps,
water mirrors, the great rivers and runoffs of varied flows, high mountains near the
coast, tropical forests and virgin beaches, where the descendants of ancient
civilizations coexist, that even in the second decade of the 21st century, they
preserve their customs and traditions. Its location facing the Caribbean Sea and
the depth and security of its bay, allow Santa Marta to be considered today as one
of the most important Colombian ports
1) Casa de la aduana
This building is considered the first one that was built architecturally not only in the
city but in America by the Spaniards, located in the Historic Center of Santa Marta,
which was where the city was originally founded. The House of Customs has gone
through multiple names and functions, including the first was the House of
Government, then the Consulate of Customs, which was a kind of Chamber of
Commerce of the time. Currently, the House of Customs is home to the Tayrona
Gold Museum, which is a regional museum part of the Bank of the Republic where
you can see a collection of goldsmiths made by the Tayrona Indians.
2) Museo del oro
The building which functioned in the Spanish colonial era as the Customs House
(Casa de la Aduana) for the port of Santa Marta is today a museum (a branch of
Bogotá's famous Museo del Orocontaining objects made of gold, pottery and stone
by the region's inhabitants before the time of Columbus. This house also lets you
explore stories of the past and present from this corner of Colombia's Caribbean
region.
In four thematic galleries, indeed, the Museo del Oro Tairona - Casa de la Aduana
invites to reflect on and talk about the lives and stories of people from the Sierra
Nevada de Santa Marta and Magdalena province over the last 2,000 years.
3)Quinta de san pedro alejandrino.
Hacienda Florida San Pedro Alejandrino is an apartment enriched by the greatest
expressions of history, art and nature, in this sacred place exhaled its last breath to
the greatest children of America, our liberator Simón Bolívar.
At present, the Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino preserves the architectural and
landscape features and values of its beginnings, as well as authentic elements of
historical and environmental interest; part of the furniture of the time and some
objects that originally belonged to the De Mier family are still preserved.
4) catedral basílica de Santa Marta
The Cathedral of Santa Marta was the first basilica built in South America and its
construction dates back to 1765 (one thousand seven hundred sixty-five), when the
then governor, Don Andrés Pérez, to build a cathedral that lasted and resisted the
uncertainties, gave the job to Engineer Don Juan . Cayetano to begin the plans of
this Church of the Catholic faith in Renaissance style.
There are also the remains of the founder of Santa Marta, Don Rodrigo de
Bastidas, which were brought from the Dominican Republic on Friday, September
18, 1953.The Cathedral Basilica of Santa Marta, is considered one of the jewels of
American architecture. It is the oldest of the churches in South America and is an
important landmark of Christianity.
5) Museo Pussini
The Puccini Museum is a diocesan institution erected to guard, protect and
promote the patrimony of the Diocese of Santa Marta which is composed of pieces
of unique artistic and historical value.
The Church has wanted ecclesiastical museums, such as the Puccini Museum, to
be a "point of reference" in which a review of the past promotes human formation
and Christian evangelization in the diocesan territory.
This is how the Museum begins to fulfill its purpose as an evangelizing instrument.
