Mentor Teacher: Mr. Faw

Poudre High School
201 S Impala Dr, Fort Collins, Colorado

Dear Mentor Teacher,

I am writing to express my desire to be considered for participation within the classroom this semester. After
reviewing the mission statement of Poudre High School, I believe that it is a community that I would like to
join. There are many skills that I have gained in my program that I believe will be a benefit if I am able to
participate in the classroom. My skills in classroom management and empathy will help me to fit into the
community created at Poudre High School.

As will be noted on the attached resume, I have extensive experience working within classrooms through
my program at Colorado State University. I have been able to work directly in the classroom and gain
knowledge on the virtual classroom. Through this I have seen how education has the power to alter the lives
of the students in the community. I hope to transfer my skills to this setting and help push all students to
grow their skills in the classroom. I believe all students should feel welcome in the class and see their own
experiences in the content of the class. I believe these are all aspects of Social Studies education that must
be present in the room. I hope to bring the current skills I have, while learning more on the way, to push all
students towards growth and create an inclusive environment that creates a space for all students to
engage with the content.

Through this I believe that I am suited as a Teacher Candidate to work in your classroom and continue my
growth as a potential educator. My skills have me positioned to succeed within your classroom, but look
forward to growing my skills even further this semester.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to me at the contact information
provided above. I look forward to hearing from you as I continue my journey into education and prepare
myself for student teaching.

Sincerely,

John Carlson
