ED CHARACTERISTICS
Can affect people in areas beyond emotion that

include persons physical, social, or cognitive skills to
be affected.

CAUSES:
ED: no known actual causes are known but several
factors include heredity, diet, brain, stress, etc.

ADD/ADHD: Several factors such as genetics and


environmental factors play a role.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
The mental health for children is always a concern.
But many mental disorders go undiagnosed and
RISK OF UNTREATMENT untreated for years including EBD and ADD/ADHD.

EBD: approximately 8.3 million children aged 4


through 17 have parents who have talked with a
health care provider or a staff member.

FREQUENCY
ADD/ADHD: an estimated 9? of children between the
ages of 3 through 17 have ADHD. Also, 4% of adults
have it.
