Assignment 1

The two most essential computer hardware required for multimedia development are Random
Access Memory (RAM) and the Graphics Card, also known as the Graphics Processing Unit
(GPU).

The RAM acts as a temporary memory that assists the CPU in processing information. The RAM
is used by the processor when we are actively using programs. For multimedia development,
such as graphics designing and animation, the computer needs more RAM as it can get
overwhelmed when too many programs are running simultaneously. More memory (RAM) will
allow running things fast and smooth, especially when working on big projects and multiple
programs are running simultaneously.

The Graphics Processing Unit is arguably the most crucial computer hardware when it comes to
multimedia development. The GPU is responsible for carrying out the video, graphics, and other
multimedia rendering. Therefore, it is highly recommended that the computer has a GPU with a
dedicated VRAM. A dedicated graphics card with memory will not rely on the system’s RAM,
delivering clear graphics quickly and enabling smooth multimedia functions.

A computer will require at least 32GB of RAM for multimedia editing, graphics design, and 3D
animation as it involves heavy multitasking. Therefore, I recommend a 32GB bundle (16GB*2)
DDR4-3200 CL16 memory specification. If additional RAM is required in the future, it can
constantly be upgraded to 64GB.

For the GPU, I recommended a graphics card, preferably Nvidia with at least 6GB of VRAM.
Nvidia is well known for better performance and heavy workload reliability relative to other
graphics card brands. In addition, a 6 GB or more graphics memory will be suitable to perform
editing of high-quality videos and graphical designs.
The following image contains all the hardware as my recommended computer build for a team
performing multimedia project.
