States plunged the global economy into another crisis.

b) The writers main purpose is to inform the reader that Trinidad and Tobago is not in a vaccum when it
comes to situtions where other countries are in debt. Trinidad and Tobago is still affected by
international problems and this is seen when the writer says "thanks to the energy sector resources and
a lower debt positition than other caribbean countries , changes taking place in the international
economy could quickly push Trinidad and Tobago to the brink of a second fiscal crisis next year." Another
example is when the writer talks about a storm in europe is casting a long shadow over the entire global
economy. An organizational strategy that the writer used was Cause and effect and this can be seen in
line 5-7 where the writer talks about anaemic growth and high unemployment in the US and Europe
could have a negative impact on the local economy . This strategy is effective because it highlights a
problem in the local economy that is caused by the US and Europe. Another organizational strategy is
statistical data and it can be observed on line 17-20 where the writer talks about crises in Ireland,
Greece, Portugual, Spain and Italy affects European banks and to backup the data is the GDP in the
eurozone is projected to contracted at an annualized rate of one per cent in the last quarter of this year
and 0.4 per cent in the first three months of 2012. The language technique used was analysis and this
can be noticed becasue the writer breaks down some examples of countries economies being affected
negatively by other countries with Europe being affected by Greece, Ireland, Portugual, Spain and Italy
and references to Europe and United States sovereign dept are going to affect Trinidad and Tobado. The
writer is doing this to support his claim in the main point with evidence to give validity to what he is
saying. The writers tone in this article was formal becasuse he is talking about the trends in the
economy and the impacts of outside forces on the local ecomony. This was an important move because
it is meant to be taken seriously and would have been unprofessional to use an informal tone because it
would not have been taken seriously.
