Mistakes That Make Travel More Expensive
Traveling abroad can cost a lot. So if you want to save money on your next trip,
try not to make these mistakes:

Hidden fees
Sometimes the "cheapest" choice turns out to cost more than you think, and a
little extra research can save you a lot of money.  Cheap flights might charge
extra for your luggage or choosing your seat.  Some credit cards will charge
extra if you're in a different country. Also, be careful of what ATM you use, as
those in places like hotels and airports can be more expensive.

Eating in tourist areas

Restaurants in tourist areas can be 40% more expensive, and the food may not
even be that good. So try to find somewhere that local people go when you
want something to eat — it will be cheaper and more authentic.

Roaming
Some phone companies will charge a lot of money if you're in another
country. The best option is to buy a local prepaid SIM card in the country
you're visiting. If you can't, try not to use the internet, and if you do, use free
Wi-Fi as often as possible.

2
Not getting travel insurance
Getting hurt or sick in another country can cost a lot of money.  Travel
insurance may seem like a waste when everything goes right, but it normally
only costs between 4% and 10% of the cost of your trip, and you'll be happy
you have it if anything goes wrong.
