How to Bait a Hook with a Worm

Fishing is a great pastime in almost any season of life. This hobby can be enjoyed by yourself or
with family and friends. Although catching a fish brings one much satisfaction and joy, it can
also be frustrating when you do not know how to properly bait your line to catch a fish. These
simple instructions will show you how to properly bait a hook with a worm. With these
instructions that dictate the proper techniques, you will feel like a professional fisherman in no
time.

Baiting Your Hook with a Worm

1. Get your worms. Purchase worms at a local gas station (some gas stations near lakes and
large ponds sell them), a fisherman's shop, or dig them up from the ground.
2. Get your hands dirty. Dig into your worm container to get one worm.
3. Use one or more worms depending on size. If you are using small worms, you may
want to put two worms on your hook or cut the worm into two small pieces if you are
using long worms (like earthworms).
4. Spear your worm. Take your worm and hook, spear the worm onto the hook and slide it
up until it reaches the top of the hook where the fishing line meets. Think of how you
slide a sock onto your foot when sliding the worm on the hook. Leave a small portion of
the worm dangling off of the hook so that some of it can hang in the water for the fish to
see.
5. Cast your line. Reel in your line every 10-15 minutes to check to see if your bait is still
on the hook. The better you hook and secure your worm the less of a problem you will
have with this.

WARNING: When spearing a worm with a hook, be careful not to stab or poke yourself. The
hook is very sharp and can cause injuries if used the wrong way.
