Guideline Details
Objective
To enable employees to apply for HCL- SNU MBA Sabbatical program to bring a unique opportunity to provide
accelerated career paths for our top talent whereby they can upgrade their qualifications and skills and
become part of the SMT cadre.
Program Details
Employees fulfilling the above eligibility criteria and qualifying the selection process as mentioned
below can enroll for full-time MBA program from Shiv Nadar University (“SNU”)
The employment with HCL on a leave without pay basis will continue during their study period
with medical coverage in line with the medical policy of the company at that time.
Post successful completion of the MBA program from SNU they will rejoin as SMT with a revised
pay. Details in annexure (pls. refer to the end of the document)
In addition to the chosen primary specialization, students are encouraged to build their knowledge
and skills by choosing two additional elective courses for an Advanced “deep dive” Specialization in
their primary area. Such an additional specialization would require courses from specific course
clusters offered by the relevant SME department. Examples are “Cyber Security”, “IOT”, “Lead like
an Entrepreneur”; “Quantitative Finance”, E-commerce and Digital Marketing, Data Science and
Analytics; Performance Management and Behavioral Assessment; and Environmental Management
and Enterprise Sustainability
Tuition Assistance
All selected Employees will be eligible for SNU scholarship by default i.e. Out of the total tuition fee
of 10 Lakhs (for the 2-year period), 50% is being waived off owing to the substantial partnership
between the institutions
Women employees will be encouraged to partake in the program and will constitute 50% of overall
Batch – 2019.
A study loan will be available via partner banks at Shiv Nadar University Campus
The tuition assistance will only comprise of the tuition fees charged by SNU. The remaining amount
of the fee/charges like books or course materials, late fees, examination fees, transportation costs
etc. is to be borne by the Employee.

Selection Criteria
Employee to self-nominate during the stipulated time window for the program by expressing interest
and filling Statement of Purpose form
Employees will be selected based on their passing the different selection filters as follows:
Step 1: Evaluation of candidate’s “Statement of Purpose”
Step 2: List of eligible candidates’ post clearing Step 1 will be provided to SNU by HCL
Step 3: SNU would administer a written test* of 2h 15m duration on verbal, mathematical,
analytical/logical reasoning and writing abilities as following:

The written test will be conducted at HCL locations in Noida, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

Tuition Assistance Program
Step 4: Applicants shortlisted from Step 3 will move to personal interview round. PI will be
conducted by joint panel of HCL & SNU.
Final selection of employees for program will be a joint decision of this committee comprising of
HCLT and SNU members.
Passing Criteria
SNU Students of Batch 2018 will adhere to following guidelines for successfully completing the MBA
program –
Mandatory 90% attendance
Timely submission of Assignments and Projects
CGPA Scores:
o Below 6 CGPA – No Change in Band / Designation / Compensation
Note:
Tuition Fee Waiver is for 4 semesters only.
All charges are payable at the beginning of the Academic Year as per schedule announced separately.
Mess and Laundry Charges: In addition to the above, the use of mess and laundry services from the
University authorized resident vendor is mandatory for all resident students irrespective of the degree
program they are pursuing. We collect advances of ₹21,500 per semester for mess and 2,250 per
semester for laundry, which is passed through to the vendors. These charges are collected by the
University at the beginning of every semester and paid to the vendor. These charges may vary from
year to year based on inflation and the decisions of the relevant student body and Dean-Student
Welfare, and will be communicated by Dean-Student Welfare at the beginning of each academic year.
The fee waiver is being offered to HCL employees under the program and is contingent upon the
individual continuing to be an employee of HCL until 18 months from date of re-joining. In case the
individual leaves HCL before 18 months from date of re-joining, SNU fee waived earlier has to
be paid back to SNU.
