BRIEF BIOGRAPHY OF JESUS WORKSHEET

By Joseph A. Climaco, Ph.D.

No. Question/Statement Scriptural Verse/s Scriptural Passages

(give the verse/s) (Type the content/s of the passages)
1 What is meaning of the name “Jesus”? 1 John 3:23 And this is his command: to believe in
the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and
to love one another as he
commanded us
2 Who are his parents? John 6:38 For I have come down from heaven,
not to do My own will, but the will of
Him who sent Me.

3 Where was he born? Matthew 2:1-12 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in
Judea, during the time of King Herod,
Magi from the east came to
Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the
one who has been born king of the
Jews? We saw his star when it rose
and have come to worship him.”
When King Herod heard this he was
disturbed, and all Jerusalem with
him. When he had called together all
the people’s chief priests and
teachers of the law, he asked them
where the Messiah was to be born.
“In Bethlehem in Judea,” they
replied, “for this is what the prophet
has written: “ ‘But you, Bethlehem, in
the land of Judah, are by no means
least among the rulers of Judah; for
out of you will come a ruler who will
shepherd my people Israel.’” Then
Herod called the Magi secretly and
found out from them the exact time
the star had appeared. He sent them
to Bethlehem and said, “Go and
search carefully for the child. As soon
as you find him, report to me, so that
I too may go and worship him.” After
they had heard the king, they went
on their way, and the star they had
seen when it rose went ahead of
them until it stopped over the place
where the child was. When they saw
the star, they were overjoyed. On
coming to the house, they saw the
child with his mother Mary, and they
bowed down and worshiped him.
Then they opened their treasures
and presented him with gifts of gold,
frankincense, and myrrh. And having
been warned in a dream not to go
back to Herod, they returned to their
country by another route.
40
4 Where did he grow up? Luke 2:40-52 There Jesus grew up, maturing in
physical strength and increasing in
wisdom, and the grace of God rested
on Him.
41
Every year during Jesus’ childhood,
His parents traveled to Jerusalem for
the Passover celebration. 42 When
Jesus was 12, He made the journey
with them. 43 They spent several days
there, participating in the whole
celebration. When His parents left for
home, Jesus stayed in Jerusalem, but
Joseph and Mary were not aware. 44
They assumed Jesus was elsewhere
in the caravan that was traveling
together. After they had already
traveled a full day’s journey toward
home, they began searching for Him
among their friends and relatives. 45
When no one had seen the boy, Mary
and Joseph rushed back to Jerusalem
and searched for Him.
46
After three days of separation, they
finally found Him—sitting among a
group of religious teachers in the
temple—asking them questions,
listening to their answers. 47 Everyone
was surprised and impressed that a
12-year-old boy could have such
deep understanding and could
answer questions with such wisdom.
48
His parents, of course, had a
different reaction.

Mary: Son, why have You treated us

this way? Listen, Your father and I
have been sick with worry for the last
three days, wondering where You
were, looking everywhere for You.

Jesus: 49 Why did you need to look for

Me? Didn’t you know that I must be
working for My Father?
50
Neither Mary nor Joseph really
understood what He meant by this. 51
Jesus went back to Nazareth with
them and was obedient to them. His
mother continued to store these
memories like treasures in her heart.
52
And Jesus kept on growing—in
wisdom, in physical stature, in favor
with God, and in favor with others.

5 What is his citizenship? John 18:36 ESV Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not
of this world. If my kingdom were of
this world, my servants would have
been fighting, that I might not be
delivered over to the Jews. But my
kingdom is not from the world.”
3
6 Who are his relatives? Mark 6:3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of
Mary and brother of James and Joses
and Judas and Simon, and are not his
sisters here with us?” And they took
offense at him.
7 Where did get his basic education? John 7:15 15 And the Jews amarvelled, saying,
How knoweth this man letters,
having never learned? 16 Jesus
answered them, and said, My
a
doctrine is not mine, but his that
b
sent me. 17 If any man will ado his
b
will, he shall cknow of the doctrine,
whether it be of God, or whether I
speak of myself.

14
8 Who are his friends? John 15:14 You are my friends if you do what I
command.

9 Who are his disciples? Matthew Go therefore and make disciples of all
28:19-20 ESV nations, baptizing them in the name
of the Father and of the Son and of
the Holy Spirit, teaching them to
observe all that I have commanded
you. And behold, I am with you
always, to the end of the age.”
10 What is his gender? not mention not mention
11 What is his profession? Mark 6:1-6 6 Jesus left there and went to his
hometown, accompanied by his
disciples. 2 When the Sabbath came,
he began to teach in the synagogue,
and many who heard him were
amazed.

“Where did this man get these

things?” they asked. “What’s this
wisdom that has been given him?
What are these remarkable miracles
he is performing? 3 Isn’t this the
carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son and
the brother of James, Joseph,[a]
Judas and Simon? Aren’t his sisters
here with us?” And they took offense
at him.

4 Jesus said to them, “A prophet is

not without honor except in his own
town, among his relatives and in his
own home.” 5 He could not do any
miracles there, except lay his hands
on a few sick people and heal them. 6
He was amazed at their lack of faith.
6
12 What is his status in life? John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and
the truth and the life. No one comes
to the Father except through me.
13 What is the cause of his death? John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he
gave his only Son, that whoever
believes in him should not perish but
have eternal life.

Himself was about thirty years old,
being, as was commonly held, the
son of Joseph, the son of Eli,

11
15 What gifts did he receive from the Magi Matthew 2:11 On coming to the house, they saw
when he was born? the child with his mother Mary, and

28:18-20 authority in heaven and on earth has
been given to me. Go therefore and
make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit, teaching them to observe all
that I have commanded you. And
behold, I am with you always, to the
end of the age.”
17 Give one of his parables. Matthew 13:35 This was to fulfill what was spoken
by the prophet: “I will open my
mouth in parables; I will utter what
has been hidden since the foundation
of the world.”
18 Give one of his miracles. John 14:12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever
believes in me will also do the works
that I do; and greater works than
these will he do, because I am going
to the Father.

B. What new lesson/s have you gained while during the worksheet?

The lessons I learned that most of the verses related to Jesus Christ from the four gospels are
John, Matthew, Luke, and Mark.

C. What ideas/ concepts do you need to clarify from the four gospels you read?

None. As most of them talk about Jesus and his doings all the time. However, answering a
specific question can be very hard with the existing verse that the four gospels give.
