Personal/ Professional Code of Conduct

My Acceptance of “In loco parentus”

As an educator you become fill in parent. One that protects, provides and comforts. When

learning how to be an educator people tell you about all the things that you should and should not

do. One thing that I believe needs to be common sense is the importance of protecting each child

that is in your care. Caring for that child incudes putting their needs before yours and looking at

all the elements present in that child’s life. I do not take becoming an educator lightly, becoming

an education is not as simple as people make it out to be. There are multiple elements, but I

believe that if one has a complete grasp on what it means to be an in loco parentus then the rest

will fall in line.

Being the in loco parentus does not only include caring for the child, but it also includes

teaching them. This does not only apply to scholastic things but as well as life. I want to be the

teacher that students learn life lesson from, just by how I act in situations. It is important to be a

role model for the students just like their parents are. Being a role model to me means, being

patient, kind, and slow to anger because then the children will reflect that energy and become

that. This then generates a happy and playful learning environment. Becoming in loco parentus is

not simply becoming a disciplinarian but a safe haven for both the children and their guardians.

Code of conduct Presentation

I believe that my demeaner should speak the loudest for my rules against inappropriate

conduct with my students. In the first meeting I want to establish respect and trust. I will do this

by making boundaries clear. I want to be the type of teacher that is comforting to my students,

but I do not want to become a friend. I plan to make these beliefs clear in the rules that are placed
in my classroom. I believe that when you have appropriate contact with the students it should

also reflect in the relationship with the student’s parents. As a future education nothing comes

before the care of my students and maintain a healthy and appropriate relationship.
