The Map of my Neighborhood

Dear Second Grade,

For the next few days, we are going to make our own amazing geographical

tool - a map! Together, we are going to map out something that we know very well…

our neighborhoods! We are going to draw our neighborhoods using at least 5

geographical features that surround us. Afterward, you will write a small blurb

about your map and what you chose to include on it. You will share your maps with

your peers.

You are welcome to use technology, or you can hand draw and write your

maps and blurb! However, we have to remember to use lots of color, to take our

time, and to be neat with our work! Mostly, remember to have fun!

Things to think about for your map:

● Is there anyone that lives next to me or near me?

● What street do I live on?

● What animals do I see around my house?

● Do I live near any trees?

● Do I live near any water? What kind of water?

● Are there any hills or mountains around me?

● What does my house look like?

● What do the roads look like?

● Are there any bridges near my house?

● Do I have anything else at my home? A barn? A garage?
