There is a certain fact that aging population has become more and more prevalent among countries
around the world. Although this issue has caused a variety of drawback, it can be resolved by a number
of solutions.

On the one hand, it is true to state that many problems have arisen as a consequence of the increase in
average life expectancy. Obviously, senior citizens are more likely to suffer from finance shortage. This is
because once retired, it is less likely for them to afford the bills by themselves. For example, in
developed countries like America, the living standard is rather high, especially for the elderly since the
healthcare services is rather expensive which pensions can not cover entirely. In addition, the lack of
members in the workforce may result in slower economic growth. As labor work requires employees
who are strong and fit, a rapidly aging population will mean there are fewer working-age people in the
economy. Hence, a shortage of qualified workers would lead to declining productivity as well as delayed
economic progress.

On the other hand, there are a number of ways to compensate for the aforementioned downside of
aging society. Changes in the retiring age would give seniors workers the opportunity to make end
meets. For instance, many developing countries including Vietnam had extended the retiring age for
both men and women so that they could adapt to aging population. Moreover, it would also be
advisable to launch birth-control policy or supply the labor workforce with immigrants so that the youth
would work effectively and therefore boost the economy.

Form the point listed above, it is obvious that many a problem has stemmed from the increase in
average life span. Nevertheless, there exist certain ways to effectively solve this burning issue.
