Defamation:

Defamation is harming someone's reputation in speech with falsehoods is known as slander, and
doing the same thing in writing is known as libel (which sometimes includes speech as well).
Man’s reputation is considered to be his property, more precious than any other property.
Defamation is an injury to reputation of a person.
Defamation may be committed in two ways, Slander (speech) or Libel (writing) and its
equivalent modes. The slander is a spoken defamation while the libel a written defamation which
may assume various forms, like physical symbols, statues, effigies, picture, caricature, wax
model, etc. To slander also various forms have been attributed. It may be committed by
representations or in other manners which are treated as equivalent to speech, like shake of the
head, nod, winking, hissing, and many others.
Essentials of Defamation: An obvious question arises about essentials of defamation under
Law. There are four essentials of the tort of defamation, namely: there must be a defamatory
statement, the defamatory statement must be understood by right thinking or reasonable minded
persons as referring to the plaintiff, there must be publication of the defamatory statement, that
is to say, it must be communicated to some person other than the plaintiff himself, and in case of
slander either there must be proof of special damages or the slander must come within the serious
classes of cases in which it is actionable per se.
Defences: This Practice Note introduces the defences to a claim for defamation, examines key
case law in this area. The principal defences are justification, honest comment, absolute
privilege, qualified privilege at common law, statutory qualified privilege, publication on a
matter of public interest, offer of amends, and defences for internet and secondary publishers.

Sedition: is the act of encouraging rebellion against the government, or an action that promotes
such rebellion, such as through speech or writing. The difference between treason and sedition,
Treason typically refers to a direct action to overthrow or betray one’s government, whereas
sedition usually falls short of direct action and instead involves the promotion of revolutionary or
treasonous actions. Legally, sedition is typically considered a less serious offense than treason.

Contempt of court: is a legal violation committed by an individual who disobeys a judge or

Contempt: it is the act of despising, the state of mind of one who despises disdain glared at him
in contempt. And it is a lack of respect or reverence for something acting with contempt for
public safety.
