What can you do with a Kinesiology degree?

Discussion:

What seems to be most interesting is Exercise Physiology. I have been a certified cycling
instructor (Spin class) for about 5 years now and have been cycling for 10+ years. It has always
been an interest of mine to really know and understand in detail of how the body responds and
adapts to physical movement (new or old) during any type of physical activity, especially with
physical injury. I could very well see myself being an exercise physiologist, if not for my chose
career as Rad tech.
Do I believe I am completely prepared to be a physical activity professional? No. I have
some experience, but it is quite important to acquire higher education and to adopt skills much
deeper than I currently possess. In this type of career, we need to understand the obligations it
takes as a professional to be able to provide adequate information and to be able guide our
clients/patients properly. Interpersonal skills, experience, and knowledge is key to these
professions.
The steps I believe I need to take is putting myself through more schooling and earning a
higher degree such as a masters. Being in the medical field I have taken some steps that would
benefit me moving forward in this occupation, like understanding the human anatomy, knowing
the certain types of body movement our bodies make and having the experience as a fitness
instructor. I would also need to adopt more technical skills for this career, and get involved with
clinical studies to be proactive, that way i may better understand and meet the needs of
clients/patients both physically and mentally.
