Challenge in Spatial Planning

Challenges in the implementation of spatial planning.

With the enactment of the Employment Creation Law UU CK 11/2020, Government


Regulation 21/2021 concerning the implementation of spatial planning and its derivative
ministerial regulations, the role of spatial planning is getting stronger, especially in realizing
ease of doing business/investment. In the future, spatial planning must be able to answer the
following strategic challenges

1. The embodiment of a space literate society.

Facilitate public access to spatial planning products, so that they can be used as a reference in
orderly and sustainable use of space.

2. Improving the quality of spatial products.

improve the quality of spatial planning products so that they can be used as accurate
references in space utilization, both for business and non business activities

3. Optimization of the spatial planning

process improve the efficiency and effectiveness of spatial planning efforts through the
integration of digital technology

4. Increasing the inclusiveness of spatial planning. Establishment of spatial planning forum in


regions that include the role of professional associations academics, and community leaders
in spatial planning

Changing Space...and the Role of Geography

1. INPUT: It is not allowed to damage the environment

2. PROCESS-1: Cannot justify any means →while upholding

3. PROCESS-2: Cannot deny Strategic Environment ICT is followed and utilized

4. OUTPUT: It is possible to improve the welfare of the community

Geographers need to know and be involved in policies... Why?

1. Naturally → Geographer does not produce many teaching materials or instruments for
measure a disasters such as landslide detection tools, flood prediction tools, etc.

2. Geographer → more in the synthesis and analysis of phenomena of biospher.

3. Geographer → have to involved in the preparation and implementation of development


policies

Note of Conclusions

1. Program study/Dept/Faculty of Geography →"produces" geographers who have academic


qualifications and competencies;

2. Disaster close to discipline of geography. And spatial planning → dreams into reality Law
26/2007;
3. Geographers and Spatial Planning are two things that need each other.
