unobtainable in a general hospital. The first hospital used conducively for the mentally ill was built in
to 1773. Patients requiring long-term hospitalization for certain conditions may be sent to a hospital
specializing in chronic diseases. and then, special Hospital (Con’t) intended for patients who
experience chronic diseases and urgently need intensive treatment in a more adequate hospital.
Although special hospital for tubercular patients are still maintained, it is expected that as the number
of beds needed for the purpose declines, tuberculosis sanitariums will be supplanted by a scpecial
