Introduction
Technology has made it possible for organisations and companies to access global markets.
Companies with financial capabilities set shop in different countries by the help of technological
advancement such as the internet which makes it possible to sell products to consumers
anywhere in the world. These international companies may use symbols and persuasive language
International companies can ship and manufacture their products in different countries. If these
products are packaged in plastics, they end up being discarded in the environment hence
enhancing pollution. Cigarette manufacturers are among the international companies with
branches all over the world and thanks to technological advancements in every sector of the
economy, cigarettes' buds are found discarded in water bodies and the environment (Leal et al.,
2020). A country where people party regularly is a potential market for cigarettes and beverages
packed in plastics. Technology provides information on people's culture and practices to wealthy
organisations and companies that do not care about the environment but their profit margin.
Technology makes it easy for politicians to reach and rally the public to their cause, and the
public also uses technology to sway political decisions to their favour. Politicians affiliated with

companies producing plastic materials, cigarettes and commodities wrapped in plastic, use
different forms of technology to pass laws and policies permitting these companies to be
operational. Laws permitting companies producing cigarettes and plastics to operate, affect the
environment as more cigarette buds and plastic waste are dumped on the environment and water
bodies (Dauvergne, 2018). Politicians, the public and organisations who are against pollution
may opt to use the different forms of technology such as social media to rally support against
companies which produce plastics and cigarettes. Technology has lessened the gap between right
and wrong in society. Plastics and cigarettes' buds degrade the environment, and everybody is
aware of this fact, but companies continue to manufacture, advertise and sell cigarettes and
Technology has changed the way people access knowledge, the way people dress and
communicate. Different cultures around the world had their way of educating their youth, but the
emergence of technology allows the youth to self-educate, which corrupts their morals (Cipriani,
2018). Adults were more involved in educating the youth and guide them. Teenagers and youths
see it trendy to smoke cigarettes and use plastic materials because technology depicts these
products as cool. Language defines a person's culture, but technology has enabled the emergence
of a common language between people of different cultures, making it easy to sell cigarettes and
plastic commodities. People can use images to communicate where the language is a barrier.
Youths all over the world dress according to the latest trends and plastics are sometimes used to
make clothes, shoes and accessories, and when they are out of fashion, they are discarded.
Music, art and film paint a picture of the happenings in our society. Creators of art, music and
film use their imagination and platform to educate on the ills of the society. Sculptors made of
plastics and cigarettes indicate how the environment is suffocating. Documentaries on pollution

are there to teach and warn of the effects of dumping plastics and cigarette buds in water bodies
and on the environment. Musicians use songs to inform of the harm that technology is causing on
our cultures and how humans are unable to distinguish between right and wrong. Artistic
productions talk of the community and environment of the artist. Art expresses emotion and
gives details of the present, past and future happenings (Trudel, 2019).
Conclusion
Cigarette buds and plastics pollute our environment, and technological advancements enhance
their production and distribution. Arts, music and film also use technology to address pollution
