Concept: Sterile gloves are an additional barrier to bacterial transfer. Sterile gloves
are available to protect the nurse from contact with blood and body fluids.

Purpose:
 To enable the nurse to work close to a sterile field and handle sterile objects
freely.
 To prevent clients at risk from becoming infected by microorganisms on
unsterile gloves or the nurses’ hands.
