Ang patuloy na paglaki ng populasyon sa daigdig ay isa sa mga suliraning kinakaharap ng ilang
mga bansa sa kasalukuyang panahon. Ayon sa ulat ng 2018 Population Reference Bureau, tinatayang 7.6

bilyon na ang kabuuang bilang ng populasyon sa daigdig at halos 60 porsyento nito ay nagmula sa Asya.

       Upang mas higit na maunawaan ang araling ito, mahalagang masuri ang komposisyon ng
populasyon na bumubuo sa bawat bansa sa Asya. Pero bago iyon kinakailangan muna nating mabigyan
ng kahulugan ang pangunahing salita na karaniwang ginagamit sa pagtataya ng implikasyon ng
populasyon sa pag-unlad ng kabuhayan ng isang lugar /bansa gaya ng mga sumusunod;

·       Populasyon - tumutukoy sa dami ng tao sa isang lugar/bansa.

·       Population Growth Rate - bahagdan ng bilis ng pagdami ng tao sa isang bansa bawat taon.

·       Life Expectancy - Inaasahang haba ng buhay

·       GDP (Gross Domestic Product) - ay ang kabuuang panloob na kita ng isang bansa sa loob ng isang taon.

·       GDP per capita - kita ng bawat indibidwal sa loob ng isang taon sa bansang kanyang panahanan.
Nakukuha ito sa pamamagitan ng paghahati ng kabuuang GDP ng bansa sa dami ng mamamayang
naninirahan dito.

·       Unemployment Rate - tumutukoy sa bahagdan ng populasyong walang hanapbuhay o pinagkakakitaan.

·       Literacy Rate - tumutukoy sa bahagdan ng populasyon na marunong bumasa at sumulat.

·   Migrasyon - pandarayuhan o paglipat ng lugar o tirahan.

Epekto ng Populasyon sa Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran

       Ang yamang tao ay mahalagang elemento sa pag-unlad ng isang bansa pero kung patuloy ang
paglaki nito maaari itong magdulot ng napakalaking suliranin. Sinasabing halos 60% ng populasyon ay
nagmula sa Asya at patuloy pa itong tumataas sa paglipas ng panahon. Dahil dito may mga bansa sa Asya
na naglunsad na ng mga batas at programa na makatutulong upang maiwasan ang patuloy na paglaki ng
kanilang populasyon.

       Narito ang ilan sa suliraning kinakaharap sa patuloy na paglaki ng populasyon, hindi lamang ng
Asya maging ng buong daigdig. Magdudulot ito ng suliraning pangkapaligiran tulad ng polusyon sa tubig
at hangin, deporestasyon at pagguho ng lupa. Makakahadlang din ito sa pag-unlad ng isang bansa dahil sa
mga salik ng ekonomiya na apektado ng malaking populasyon. Tulad ng pagpapataas ng kita ng bawat
mamamayan o yung tinatawag na income per capita at pambansang kita na tinatawag na national income.
Dahil sa paglaki ng populasyon, napapababa nito ang kita ng bawat mamamayan at pambansang kita.

Magdudulot din ito ng suliranin sa kakulangan sa pagkain, ang pagkain ay isa sa pinakapangunahing
pangangailangan ng tao upang mabuhay. Ang paglaki ng populasyon ay nakababawas din sa bahagdan ng

capital formation. Nadadagdagan ang gastos samantalang ang kita ay nananatili. Ito ay nagbubunga ng
pagbagsak ng bahagdan ng pag-iimpok at pamumuhunan.

Epekto ng Populasyon sa Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran

       Ang yamang tao ay mahalagang elemento sa pag-unlad ng isang bansa pero kung patuloy ang
paglaki nito maaari itong magdulot ng napakalaking suliranin. Sinasabing halos 60% ng populasyon ay
nagmula sa Asya at patuloy pa itong tumataas sa paglipas ng panahon. Dahil dito may mga bansa sa Asya
na naglunsad na ng mga batas at programa na makatutulong upang maiwasan ang patuloy na paglaki ng
kanilang populasyon.

       Narito ang ilan sa suliraning kinakaharap sa patuloy na paglaki ng populasyon, hindi lamang ng
Asya maging ng buong daigdig. Magdudulot ito ng suliraning pangkapaligiran tulad ng polusyon sa tubig
at hangin, deporestasyon at pagguho ng lupa. Makakahadlang din ito sa pag-unlad ng isang bansa dahil sa
mga salik ng ekonomiya na apektado ng malaking populasyon. Tulad ng pagpapataas ng kita ng bawat
mamamayan o yung tinatawag na income per capita at pambansang kita na tinatawag na national income.
Dahil sa paglaki ng populasyon, napapababa nito ang kita ng bawat mamamayan at pambansang kita.

Makikita sa datos ang epekto ng populasyon sa kabuhayan at kaunlaran  ng isang bansa at sinasabing
halos 60% ng populasyon ay nagmula sa Asya. Isa sa mga suliraning ito ay ang pagtaas ng bilang ng
walang trabaho sa bansa kaya mahalaga na bilang isang nagdadalaga o nagbibinata ang pagtuklas at
pagpapaunlad ng mga hilig at kakayahan na maaaring makatulong sa iyo sa paghahanda sa pagpili ng
iyong propesyon, kursong akademiko o teknikal-bokasyonal at  negosyo o hanapbuhay balang araw.

A pure substance is a type of matter which exists in its most basic or purest form and

has its own set of unique chemical and physical properties which helps us in identifying

it.
Examples of pure substances
Water has a freezing and melting point of 0°C and a boiling point of 100°C. It is
colourless, tasteless and odourless. Gold is considered pure at 24 karat. It is yellow in
color, solid at room temperature and is regarded as a good conductor of electricity. It is
also malleable and ductile in nature.
Types of pure substances
Pure substances can be divided into two categories – elements and compounds.
Elements are made up of the same types of atoms. The known elements listed in the
periodic table can be considered pure substances. Examples of elements include
hydrogen, oxygen, gold, silver Compounds are made up of different types of atoms
joined together by chemical bonds. Examples of compounds include water, glucose, salt
and carbon dioxide.
What is a mixture?
Mixture is a combination of two or more pure substances where each substance keeps
its own identity upon mixing. Mixtures are present almost everywhere on Earth. Look at
rocks, the ocean, rivers or even the atmosphere. All of them are mixtures! In other
words, anything that you can mix together is a mixture. Even the foods you eat.
Why is it called a mixture?
It means the fundamental chemical structure of the components in a mixture does not
change upon mixing.
Examples of mixtures
Although water is a pure substance, if you put sand into a glass of water, it would
turn into a mixture. Each of the components of a mixture can be separated from one
another. You can always separate the sand from water by filtering it. If you take a
mixture of salt and water, you can separate it by evaporating the water, to get salt in the
container. Air, too, is a mixture of different gases such as carbon dioxide, oxygen,
nitrogen and water vapour etc. Blood is a mixture made up of different types of blood
cells and plasma.
Types of mixtures

1. Homogeneous mixture – The components of a homogeneous mixture


have a uniform composition, and cannot be seen separately. The prefix
‘homo’ means the same and it tells us that when two substances combine
extremely well with one another, they form a uniform mixture. For
example, sugar and water do not chemically react and form another
compound although the water does turn sweet!
2. Heterogeneous mixture – The components of a heterogeneous mixture
do not have a uniform composition and can be viewed separately without
losing their identity. For example, if you mix sulfur powder with iron dust,

you can easily see the two separately. You can even separate the iron

How do we differentiate between pure substances and mixtures?

 A Pure Substance is matter which cannot be separated into its basic


components by using a physical or a chemical process. The physical and
chemical properties of pure substances are non-changing, if it is on its own
without disturbing.
 A Mixture is made up of a combination of two or more substances that are
not united using a chemical reaction. The physical and chemical properties
of mixtures vary.

Directions: Write the similarities at the middle and differences on both sides of the
mixtures and pure substances. Make a Venn Diagram.

Clause VS. Phrase

A Clause is a group of words that contains a subject and a verb meanwhile a Phrase is a group
of words that may have nouns or verbals, but it does not contain a subject doing an action (verb).

Using the topic in Science about Types of Mixture , underline the group of  words that describe a
Clause and encircle the group of words that describe a Phrase.

Types of mixtures

Homogeneous mixture – The components of a homogeneous mixture have a
